I just heard about the left rear tire deal with Faria's car! It looks like he got hosed by West Coast sprinters AGAIN !! Somebody needs to do there homework in that organization, because a D12 COMPOUND IS THE EXACT SAME AS A RC1 COMPOUND. You cannot get a 98 hoosier tire in a RC1 they only have them as a D12 or SC12 at HOOSIER. So he should get his points back for his 2nd place finish and the money too. KEARNS YOU NEED TO MAKE THIS RIGHT!! !!!! Usac allows a D12 at Perris for a 98 left rear and so does Naylor at VENTURA RACEWAY.

We bought two new 98 left rears for the Calistoga USAC race last year and only used one. I just took a look in the trailer and it's a D12, so if USAC has changed the rules I'm gonna be pissed.

Calistoga is a 410 show so your tire should be fine.

Strange enough USAC CRA and USAC National has gone to a open tire rule, I dont even know if it is manufacture specific:

Tires

A. All tires must be designed specifically for automobile racing, and must be approved by the manufacturer for its intended use.B. Any device(s) used for warming the tires prior to competition is prohibited. C. Any solvents or chemicals applied to the tire that alter the chemical makeup of the compound or have the effect of altering tire durometer is prohibited. Any tire that is found to deviate from the original factory specifications will be confiscated. The maximum penalty for chemically altering a tire is a one year suspension from competition and loss of all points earned for the season. D. FOR PAVED EVENTS ONLY All tire sizes and compounds must be selected from the approved list for the event. If the right rear tire is changed during the event, under red or yellow flag conditions, the car will restart at the end of the restart lineup. The replacement tire must be the same compound as the tire removed. Tire rules for specific events will be disclosed in the Official Entry or by USAC Bulletin.
