Jerry Frantzen passed away today from stomach Cancer. He was from Windom Mn. He raced sprint cars at Jackson, Mn and Husets Speedway many years ago. Our prayers go out to his family.

Prayers go out to all of the Frantzen family. Thanks for posting this Racinggal. I was just wondering the last few months what Jerry was doing? Jerry & brother Keith built some nice looking sprint cars many moons ago, along with racing themselves.

As a kid in the seventies, before the Jackson races on Saturday, my dad & I would stop at the shop to see Keith & Jerry. They let me sit in the 2X and 22X and fire them off. It was an awesome experience for a kid. Jerry was one of the nicest guys I have ever met. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the Frantzen family during this difficult time. Leigh

I grew up in Windom-my dad (Duane Strausser) raced against Keith, Jerry, Larry Smith-that whole bunch from the late 60's & early 70's around Jackson. It's a shame that outside of the upper midwest, no one knows what kind of fabricating and metalworking genious Jerry was, as well as a great driver. Definitely a real character and the type of guy that this sport is lacking. I always wondered how many races they'd have won if Wolfie/Keith/Jerry had teamed up and stayed together for a few years.

Not trying to bust anyone here on this post but, yes Jerry Frantsen (not Frantzen) did pass away this past weekend from cancer. Also Jerry did race pretty much all over the country back in the day, not just Jackson and Husets. Jerry and his brother Keith both raced pretty much where ever they could back in the day. They also built-manufactured many cars for drivers all over the midwest. RIP Jerry.

Tonight we went to Windom MN. for the visitation of Jerry Frantsen and I would like to share with you some thoughts. First of all what a great showing of support for the family of Jerry, the place was packed with family friends, past fans and many retired drivers who raced with Jerry over the years. The family had an awsome display of hunting and fishing photos of Jerry with family members, and of course alot of racing photos of the cars Jerry drove and built over the years. I think the earliest picture of a race car was from 1970 and it was a coupe style body. During the hour we were there I had the oppurtunity to visit with and see many people who were involved in racing back when Jerry was racing. It was really cool to see and visit with guys like Keith Frantsen, Doug Wolfgang, Jack McCorkle, Bobby Geldner, Miles Grien, Dick Schlutz, Dean Hoppe, Dick Trondsen, Brian Woodke, Kenny Chapman, Lou Kennady Sr., Brian Keck, Curt Thurmer. I am sure there are others who were there but what a great show of support! RIP Jerry 2X

Both Jerry and Keith had great looking and fast running cars; and were always in contention for the win - wherever we saw them race at. They added a lot of color to a racing program and were part of the reason why thousands of race fans attended races, regularly.

I would like to thank them for their contribution to the sport and offer condolences to their family at this difficult time.
