NCRA Southern Mod Season Kicks Off This Saturday!!!
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – Midwest City, Oklahoma – March 7, 2010 - The O'Reilly/NCRA southern modifieds are set to kick off their second season this coming Saturday night as they head to Elk Citys I-40 Speedway in Elk City, Oklahoma for the first of two scheduled events on the three eighths mile clay oval. The series' modified south division will also be in competition as will the tracks weekly divisions of street stocks and bombers. The division was known last year as the southern sport modifieds.
While it is unclear if inaugural division champion Chad McNamara of Ponca City, Oklahoma will be competing in 2010, nine of last years top ten in final point standings are expected. They include Texan Donny Raney, along with Oklahoma drivers Robert Elliott, Randy Thomas, Frank Graven, Todd Decker, Nick and Mike Schenberger, Bob Mock and Kevin Snow. Other division regulars competing include Landon Maddox, Walter O'Dell, Shawn Jorski and Eddie Sweeney.
Other drivers expected include Jeff Autry, Greg Deterding, Levy Glamor, Rick Pittman, Jr. David Loyd, Willie Smith, Justin North and Roger Lawerence. Over forty drivers are expected.
Raney and Smith both picked up the two division victories last season during the series' inaugural visit at the track.
An open practice session is scheduled for Friday night starting at 6:00 PM with pit passes $10. Gates open at noon on Saturday with racing set to begin at 4:00 PM.
The event will be the first of two scheduled stops for the division with drivers competing for the $500 to win top prize with $10 just to start the twenty car feature finale.
Below is the information that you need to know for the NCRA event in Elk City, Oklahoma.

WHAT: The O'Reilly/NCRA southern modified division along with the the series modified south division. The tracks local weekly divisions of street stocks and bombers will also be competing.
WHERE: Elk Citys I-40 Speedway in Elk City, Oklahoma. Track is located off of I-40 at exit 34 (Merritt Rd.), then half mile north and half mile west.
WHEN: This coming Saturday night, March 13. Gates open at noon with races set to begin at 4:00 PM. There will be a practice session on Friday night from 6:00 PM until 10:00 PM. Pit passes are $10 with grandstand admission "free" for Friday nights practice.
LODGING: The Days Inn in Elk City is the motel of choice for all racers and race fans. Rates are $58.00 per night for double bed and $53.00 for single but you must mention your racing with NCRA for this discount. Call them at (580) 225-0305. There will be plenty of parking for trailers but better hurry and reserve your room now as there are not many rooms left. Also the Bedford Inn (580) 225- 6775 is a host hotel for the track with their rooms starting at $35.
EATERIES: To go along with the usual fast food places like McDonalds, Long John Silvers, Arbys and Quiznos there are also plenty of home cooking available that is recommended by the locals. Elk Country Cafe, El Charros Mexican, Ed's Katie Dinner, Lupes and Hog Trough.
