Hey drivers, I have a stupid question for you and yes you can slam me or make fun of me but I am just courious. Does driving on a dirt track, especially either the dry snot slick type or the too wet not rolled in kind, make it easier for you to drive on the streets when the road conditions are the way they are? Do you ever find yourself spinning and out of control?
Heck just rambling thoughts from a rambling mind while I sit here at home bummed because I couldn't make it to HOOTERS for my traditional birthday treat to myself.

Minus the adrenalin rush, the smell of methanol, grabbing a tear off, running over the stupid bastard that either pinched you off or did a half assed slide job that destroys the left front wheel.Even though I did a diamond shape turn on ice at SW 52 and villa yesterday without hitting anthing in a 3/4 ton chevy pick up.No not really I didnt have much foreward bite or side bite.Could have the wrong shocks and to much spring.I dont know what the cross weight is I never scaled or blocked it.The ride height is about 24' to the center of the frame.Front sets slightly lower than the back.No wonder I cant get no bite.It will still outrun a ford.

What I want to know is when do you get the white nuckles and the golf ball sized eyes? When you get in and go or when you get slide ways?

You get Golf or Goof ball eyes when you climb in, when you slide it in you get Tennis balls. The white knucles come about nine months later...lol

I am surprised "old" black paint sprayed beard JD didn't have a comment for your little FORD comment.
I like these answers guys, very entertaining and actually informative believe it or not. It was just a question I had always pondered while driving on roads like we have had the past couple of days and a little over one month ago.

me and my old pop's were just talking about this today,i used to have a 01 gmc 1/2 ton with air ride suspension, all we know is race car so it had a 3 link setup with swedge tubes and a long panhard bar mounted behind the rear-end,and some afco wb shocks.people looked at me like i was crazy for driving my "low rider" out in this stuff but it got around awesome! needless to say i wouldn't recommend it for a daily driver lol

I grew up in New Jersey where every parking lot became a playground when it snowed and you weren't really cool until you could spin a 360 on a dirt road without going in either ditch. Guess I got better with a shovel and tow rope than I should have, but it was fun. What I want around here is a yellow bumper or rookie flags on every squid who spent $40k for a four wheel drive SUV and hasn't got a clue how to drive it when it rains, let alone this mess. I doesn't matter how much skill or experience you've got if the jackass sliding sideways straight at you in his Escalade is over his head. That being said, isn't the largest parking lot in town at the State Fair grounds? Just askin'

So true on the SUVs and big trucks. I drive my little Camry and I got around alot better than alot of people both last month and yesterday. My son calls his big Dodge Ram 4x4 with a 9 inch lift his "beastmaster" so I fired back my little Camry is just the beast. It just amazed me I was cruising on Crosstown yesterday morning at 50 mph while others in trucks were only 30 mph.
But the orignial question I asked always got me to thinking if racing on dirt tracks allowed you to have no problems on these road conditions.

It depends on the driver, the good ones will apply basic slick track skills, like me.The bad ones will just simply hit something, like cheese. The ugly ones will never get it and should never make an attempt, like no wing.

hey david, long time no talky.
as you know , i'm no race car driver; but when i see ya next time....
remind me to tell ya about coming back from the chili bowl, what 2 yrs ago when we had all the snow and ice. it involves running down 35 'tween okc and ardmore. following an 18 wheeler in the right lane 'bout 55 mph, 4 -5" slush in left lane. big truck pulls out to pass, i follow. big truck pulls back into right lane..... i'm hung out in slush!!!
what happened next? let's just say the kiddo said, "nice save dad"
best to ya man
