I would suggest if anyone is going to turn in the major code violations, such as some of you witnessed at the racers auction building . I would start with reporting these violations to the construction industries board 271-5217. That is the state inspectors main number. They are located in the shepard mall state offices at the north end. Keep in mind the state is over thr city and anyone else. Keep in mind that on their board is some okc chief inspectors. The state is a higher authority than the city. If you visit their website. It states "the mission of the construction industries board is to protect life and property by licensing trades for the health , safety snd welfare of the public.". I would sincerely hope that the city of okc wouldn't be "above the law.". Also the fact that no one has inspected the fairgrounds in 56 yrs. This was stated as fact by judge Owens and now is matter of public record. Also I believe the city owns a lot of proerties in okc. I for one think if sfs us unsafe and should be shut down then we as citizens need to seek out these city owned properties and check them out for code violations sense the are so concerned about our safety. You can also call the city 297-2504. This is the niumber to the inspectors. I would write a letter to the city, state CIB, and enclose those pictures so it is documented. They shouldn't be able to have any shows at the fairground since it is so dangerous out there. Tammy

This is just me talking but I think a few phone calls to the paper or such with these pics would help. That way it will get out in the public as well.

Need to get ahold of the tv stations as well. The problem is with the Daily Oklahoman owned and having interest in all that goes on with MAPS 3 and the fairgrounds, there are those writers who may be told to leave it alone or else. It would be like if you bashed your employer to everybody or brought up things that weren't right.

There have been times in the past where things were brought up in the media that sounded like more to come and then you never heard about it again nor find the information on it.

I remember at a Hockey game when the Blazers first started, they were switching from the Myriad to the SF Arena. One night the Fire Marshall showed up and threatened to make everybody leave in the first period for some code violation {cant remember which one}. Since then, the Arena has been redone but not all buildings are up to code. Exits, Fire systems, electrical, ADA etc. In most cases if you do any remodel "Everything" has to be brought up to code, has this been done? These actions wont help reopen SFS but it the bed that the Fairboard and the City used to shut us down, how Clean is their Back Yard.

I am not done fighting for the track. I am not speaking for anyone else but I think what some are trying to make a point here. Why shut down the track when the other buildings are just as bad.

If they shut down one then they should done down the reast and not single out just one structure down there.

We already pissed em off draggin them into court. As far as fightin for the track now the only way to save it is to fix the electrical. Fairgrounds wont, City wont, Racers cant, Lanny might if allowed to but if we take it to appeal you better have an answer for that Judge cause he going to want an answer on public saftey as well. Waiting on the City or the Fairboard to do it will never happen like I said at the first so I'll go back to my recomendation on a couple of free nights that can generate thousands of $$$ but greed probably will still win on that option.

Still goes to show ya "alot of people dont like the way Old J D thinks"!

Thing is, they want us to get hung up on specifics, then argue over what needs to be done first. Should anybody win the argument, then they will throw something else in there.

We have to protect the speedway from those people first.

Just thinking...........That's all, just thinking.

In the 80's, a total of four girls were abducted and never seen again while they were at the Fair, not the track. I myself have seen at least one knife fight between two vendors. We've heard about the late night bogus fillups with contractors(charging vendors and no fillup done). Now, it seems most of the fairgrounds itself is unsafe with it's electrical issues, and the ADA Lawsuit it turns out was against the ENTIRE Fairgrounds.

Looks to me like the grandstands might be the safest place out there.

Brian the thing is now is if the State appelate court says that the city or the fairgrounds have to fix it they set a standard {or Law}that effects Enid and Muskogee as well that they have to provide that to their tenants as well. Maybe that law should be there with the laws they pass for Landlords to provide items for their Tenants in housing but your dealing with a political family.

I dont want to come off like I'm a Lawyer but I have spent a great deal of my life dealing with the law. From deposistion to testifying on the stand in different areas of the law. I've fired attorneys for not getting the job done in mid case and have givin bonuses to some for achieving more than I've expected. I've never sued anyone for personal gain. But there is a technique and credability needs to be looked at when choosing a Lawyer for your situation.

The fact is there is no Lawyer that specializes in race track law and any Lawyer has to be educated to this situation and they are only as good as the info they recieve. You have to work with your attorney on strategy combined with the info he or she needs to win your case. so far we're 0 and 1

I agree with uncle a. When I posted that I had in mind what Erich had posted about the. Building the auction was at. Where there were major problems. I agree we should ask the attorney. I don't know how long it will take lannys appeal to get to court. Everyone including myself needs to think everything thru before proceeding with it. Maybe God willing we can getthr injunction, so there will be a trial. Maybe the attorney could prove Tim o'toole is liar. He stated under oath the bathrooms had never been upgraded. I don't know about the mens, but the womens upstairs and down were upgraded about 5 yrs ago. I take my mom who is in a wheelchair to the bathrooms and they are fully handicapped accessible. I hope everyone has a good week. We just need to keep sticking together.

Yep, and we have no idea as to how large that family is. I do know they have to have enemies elsewhere. Anyone who lies as much as they do, has got to be afraid of something. Somewhere, there is a weakness they are hiding.

Bottom line is the city government that is in place now love anything but dirt track racing and it is what it is.

It will cost more to tear down the ole' girl than to fix all of her problems back to code. It has been said the cost to tear down the grandstands and level the track might cost approximately of 4 to 5 million . 3 or 4 million to bring it up to code. So there you go politics hard at work to stick it to the racing community.

They want to have another hockey team in OKC and they know right where they want to build the new convention center for their team..

Besides appeal's and a long court battle the only thing left to do is bend over and take it like a real race fan.

Life goes on but that don't mean we got to like getting screwed.Frown
