12 Inductees Announced as NSCHoF "Class of 2010"
1/15/2010 - The National Sprint Car Hall of Fame is pleased to announce the names of its twelve inductees for 2010. The individuals will be inducted into the National Sprint Car Hall of Fame on Saturday, June 5th, during the twenty-first annual ceremonies in Knoxville, Iowa. The inductees for 2010 are:
Drivers: Bobbie Adamson, Hank Arnold, Fred Linder, Frank Riddle, Hal Robson, Herman Schurch.
Owners-Mechanics-Builders-Manufacturers-Car Sponsors: Clyde Adams, Casey Luna, Don Shepherd.
Promoters-Officials-Media Members-Event/Series Sponsors: George Bentel, Fred Brownfield, Ben Krasner.
According to National Sprint Car Hall of Fame & Museum Foundation executive director Bob Baker, "It seems like every year a different 'theme' emerges for our induction ceremony and based on this year's final balloting by the 72-member induction committee, I would say that this year the emphasis is on 'National'. The 'class of 2010' is truly coast-to-coast and border-to-border in its scope. From the late Herman Schurch in southern California to Bobbie Adamson in Central Pennsylvania, and from the late Fred Brownfield in the Pacific Northwest to the late Frank Riddle in Florida, our inductees in 2010 come from every region of the country."
Baker, in making the announcement during the Lucas Oil Chili Bowl Midget Nationals, continued, "It is unfortunate that so many of our inductions will be posthumous this year, but I guess that just makes us appreciate those that are still with us that much more. We hope and trust that great achievers such as sprint car drivers Bobbie Adamson and Fred Linder, mechanic Don Shepherd and owner Casey Luna will be able to join us for our twenty-first induction ceremony on Saturday, June 5, in Knoxville. With the World of Outlaws and Knoxville Raceway having announced a three-day sprint car show here on June 3-4-5, I certainly expect that this will be one of our biggest banquets ever!"

It is a shame that Johnny Anderson has once again been denied this great honor.

no Bobby Davis Jr, no Gary Wright, no Frankie Kerr, no Richard Griffin. Who is voting for this? All voters should read this article before they vote: http://www.openwheeltimes.com/index.php?option=com_myblog&show=Hall-of-Fame-Game.html&Itemid=56

Congrats Casey Luna. Now if they put Bud Grimm in it will be complete.
Luna's Ford engine style that won 2 WoO titles and 3
Kings Royals before a weight rule against the best EVER
in their prime and now DOMINATES super dirt late model
racing is no longer allowed/wanted in a WoO sprint
car.... Was Luna a miracle worker?

The only way that Gary Wright could not have been inducted was that someone failed to nominate him. I can't imagine him not being a unanimous first year entry by the voters...this guy is in the top five all-time in sprint car wins. I had assumed he'd be inducted this summer...I know they have looked at the induction process, but this may be the time to do something about it...
If this post isn't results, stories or something c

Gary Wright not being inducted is a TRAVESTY! And I agree that Bobby Davis Jr., Frankie Kerr, Johnny Anderson (west coast driver for those who don't know) all should be in there. These guys are more deserving than some current inductees. I understand the rules for nomination (50 years old or retired for 5 years), but the thought that these guys could have not been nominated by someone startles me. I love our Hall of Fame. It has a lot of good things going for it so I hate to throw the Hall under the bus here, but if these voters and organizers of the Hall can't get Gary Wright in there, something is wrong with the current system. New voting members or organizers of the induction process appears to be needed.

Can someone help me with some driver bios for the guys that made it. Only recognized one of the names.
I am glad that Casey Luna made it in. I always liked his cars.

Bob Baker e-mailed me this morning and verified that Gary Wright was nominated this year by someone, but he didn't get enough votes. There are 72 people on the induction committee who vote, equally divided up with 18 people in 4 different regions of the country (West, Mid-west, Mid-east, and East) and these are historians, writers, and other media. To think that 37 of the 72 people didn't vote for GW is just nuts IMO. Let's hope he gets in next year.

All the best came to central PA to beat Grimm. Central PA is the toughest place to race sprint cars to this day largely because of Bud Grimm. Only Karl Kinser was perhaps a better mechanic. Compared to cookie cutter parts replacers of today, they should have a statue of him in the lobby in Knoxville.

Considering the "exploits" of some of the inductees... pretty amazing that the people that vote in members would ignore some of the names listed in this thread.
I've read Mr. Eckert's columns about the voters... they continue in their infinite wisdom apparently.
There are some quality inductees in this class such as Mr. Luna (big time) but there are some people being ignored that should be in there.
I don't think I would spend a nickel to support a HoF that doesn't include Gary Wright, Frankie Kerr (as versatile as it gets) or Bobby Davis, Jr. (youngest WoO winner, WoO champion) if they are eligible. BD, Jr is 50? Not sure, I would think he is a few yrs short of it by my math.
Yes, the HoF will survive without me... and until they can figure out how to get the right people in there... it will have to survive without me.

Danny Lasoski was also elgible and failed to get in, so I'd say maybe the panel got it right rather than wrong.
IMO, Gary W. deserves it much more than Danny L., or (gasp) even Haud or Rahmer. Only thing that I think that held him back was the fact that his career is largely in teh mid-west and south instead of cross country like others were.
I personally have no issue with the drivers, owners, mechanics from the previous eras getting in now rahter than later.
Remember the NSCHoF is the only HoF (that I have ever heard of) that inducts people that are still alive and out there participating. Every other MAJOR sport makes you be retired for 5 years before you are elgible to even be put on the ballot (MLB, NFL, NHL). Seems to me that maybe we've made the HoF too easy to be inducted into.
Again, just my opinion, but wouldn't it mean more if only 5 people could get in every year and then maybe a veteran's committee for someone that's been on the ballot for 5 straight years and not inducted (if the vet's committee says "no", you aren't elgible anymore).
Just my $.02

The names of the voters should be made public as well as the results. There should be accountability.
I would think that the reason the HoF inducts active participants is that the baquet weekend is a major fundraising event. Inductees bring family, friends, ect. that bring money. That's why they induct so many every year and why it's important to try to induct those who are still a marketable presence, like Had and Rahmer, for example.
It's absolutely TOO EASY to get inducted. It's as much about smoozing and contacts and donations as it is rightful recognition for career greatness.
I think there should be a waiting period after a driver's career and the age limit needs to be raised unless there are extenuating circumstances.
Gary Wright probably didn't get in because the last 10 years or so he's fattened his win total by racing 360s.
I agree that many great drivers, ect. have been slighted, including Johnny Anderson and guys like Tiger Bob Williams from Kansas City, among others.
