They want $400,000 to fix the electric problem. If it is fixed we get to race through the 2012 season. How much & many people do you thank we can get to donate to the cause? I have a $100 I will put in for now. Is it possible to get sponsors to help out? If it can be done it would give us three more years to get it ADA compliant. It might be stupid but just thanking of keeping it open. If we did come up with the money that would piss the city off for sure. I'm not good with math but how many people would it take to come up with it, I'm not sure but I bet there are some out there that can come up with more? If it could be done it would give us more time for the other problem. Don't laugh it's just a idea.

Before I will donate, I want to see the estimate, who compiled it and what the complete scope of work is. I find it hard to believe that replacement and/or upgrade of existing equipment and parts to make it SAFE can cost anywhere close to 400K.
I'm willing to bet that a close look at their estimate will include demolishing and removal of existing equipment is included, and most of this is not even necessary. And, I'll bet that the underground cable burial is not required to make it safe. It is probably in the estimate because that is what the design engineers have specified to accommodate the future plans for the facility.
Since it appears that the 400K price tag is the driving force behind the closing, I think the city owes the racing community a complete accounting and a copy of the estimate for review. Perhaps the racing community should have their own estimate done but only include what it will take to make it safe to the spectators and not what is included for future use.
Has anyone considered attempting to get an injunction against the city? Is there any legal council involved on behalf of the racing community, if not there should be. There should be, out of all the years and thousands of fans at least one Attorney that is a race fan. One willing to help save the track

We are in the process of sitting up a place where you can donate. Also, that is the thing no one seems to know where the report is. It has been asked for on numerous ocassions but you get a blank stare when you ask for it.

Someone, the Mayor or member of the City Council had to approve funding for the estimate.........didn't they? Therefore it should be a matter of public record.
It appears that you and many others are working hard to achieve "what is right", I applaud you for your hard work.

This has been my thought all along, the 400K estimate is most likely for unnecessary underground wire and several other unnecessary things because they want the track closed. I just so happen to know that underground wire verses overhead wire is 3 to 4 times more expensive, that's why electric lines are all overhead. Myself and I'm sure most other racers and race fans would be glad to donate but to a more realistic overhead estimate like 100K or less, with the huge croud the track gets every week it would be well worth it. Iv'e been wrong before but I don't believe the city has any intentions on helping us build another track like they say, why would they spend millions on another track when they wont even spend 100K or the so called 400K on this one with the money that they have now from Maps. As long as the track is still standing there is hope, I'm glad to see people trying to save the place.
Thanks, Charles Day

From my understanding it is owned by OG&E. Therefore OG&E will do it themselves and no one else! Dont know for sure but thats what I heard.

Now, that's really confusing. What is it that OG&E owns? It can't be any of the electrical fixtures downstream and including the main box at the property. OG&E brings the power supply to the owners equipment and they own and are responsible for the cable and poles and supports to that point. If they need replacement, it is at their cost, not the city or fair board.
There sure seems to be a whole lot of smoke being blown up a whole lot of a$$es and the city should be held responsible for their actions. Go get um!
