I'm not worried about it ... it's just annoying to click thinking there's new info ... that's all I'm saying ...

I think rhilbers is only trying to keep this at the top of the page to keep the fire alive, and get those who have not already signed in on the on-line petition to join our efforts.

Thank you for your participation.

Perhaps a moderator (Alan, Jeff) could sticky it at the top of the forum like they do for other worthy causes?

Or perhaps you could simply post something new related to the cause?

Racers, Sponsors and Fans-
Call, email or fax our Mayor, City Council Members, the Fairgrounds Management and the Fair Board.
Jam their phone lines, fill their email boxes and
send those faxes.
Ask for a resolution to the problem so that we can have at least a final farewell season, or keep SFS open indefinitely.

OKC Mayor and City Council
200 N Walker, 3rd Floor
Oklahoma City, OK 73102
405-297-2424
fax 405-297-3759
OKC Mayor- Mick Cornett-
[email protected]

Thanks to all that have signed the online petition and there are paper petitions being passed out as well. At the Chili Bowl and at many other places thru out OK,KS,TEX. The more out of town signatures the better to show the extra revenue that Racers and Race Fans bring to Oklahoma City, Ok.

Thank You,

Save State Fair Speedway...

This is the person whom has filed a law suit over ADA compliance at SFS.

Sorry, but I do not see the point in publishing the name of the individual who filed the ADA action against State Fair here. It'll just stir up antagonism against someone who just wanted the law(ADA) followed and enforced.

ADA lawsuits are filed all over the country, whether its for curb cuts(wheelchair ramps), sidewalks, braille signage, wheelchair access in department stores, or whatever. The individual who filed this action did so for ALL disabled folks.

It's OK to be upset about the loss of SFS; but to dredge up this stuff serves no purpose. You have a right to go after the Fair Board and the rest of the politicians, but if any facility is not ADA compliant, it needs to be addressed. Bringing up the plaintiff here is just wrong!

After all, if you were a disabled member of society, wouldn't you want the ADA act enforced at your favorite restaurant/sporting event/ supermarket/public facility?

We have been highly suspicious as to where this cat got the notion to come in. He has a series of lawsuits behind him, and it is common to have a lawsuit filed on oneself (in legal circles) to accomplish, in this case, the rooting out of certain elements without public backlash.

Many, many tracks across the country are non-compliant, but yet there were many who came to SFS and enjoyed the show. There are also elevators that need to be repaired, inside the facility. HOW MANY DIRT TRACKS CAN EVEN SAY THAT?

sprinter25-- This is exactly the divisionary tactic that they have employed(the stigma of non-ADA compliance), along with other finecrafted angles. I would have used it myself had I been on their side. "Political Correctness" is a tool, it has to be used right to control the masses.

They go over their studies of behavior every day.

Since when is wanting enforcement of any law a "divisonary(I assume you meant diversionay) tactic"?

And if a track's not compliant, and someone that requires ADA features sues to make it so, why is that bad?

If your local politicians are bad, vote them out of office!

1.Enforcement is a corrective measure, and there is plenty of room to correct the non-compliant issues. I have had my own share of family and friends that were in wheelchairs, and yes I know what it's like to deal with steps and steep ramps. Diabetes runs in my family, and I'm afraid there will be more wheelchairs in the future, even one for me.

Your view is of the right one, you are not wrong in your ideas. But the divisionary/diversionary tactic is to have people like you and I at odds, inso that the push to save the speedway is watered down a touch. Every little drop of water to the fire helps.

2. It is not bad to use the legal system for right reasons, but in this case, the timing has been questionable indeed. The American Disabilities Act (ADA) has been a "law" since 1990. That means for 19 years, handicapped persons have been watching the races at State Fair Speedway, and WOULD HAVE continued to do so, IF the red tape would have been cleared. I have a hammer, every other weekend off, and yet not one chance to help make it happen(ADA compliance). We are Oklahomans you know, we do care.

3. These 'politicians' are looking for the piece of pie they will have once they are out of office. So, being voted out, will only keep them from being 'billionaires'. They would have to settle for Denver, instead of Aspen for a retirement home.

This guy was all over the news back when his crusade began.

I am very sensitive to people with special needs, As I carry a wheel chair in the back of the van for my Dad and my wife works with children with special needs.

But IMO some people go a little to far sometimes. SFS is the only track I can safely take my Dad to go see a race. Yes it is good exercise for me (and I dang sure need it lol) but still the same it works for us. When he needs to go to the bathroom IN HIS WHEEL CHAIR the only problem is waiting his turn for the Handicapped stall, and it's not a very long wait. Yes a power chair would have trouble getting in the door in the upstairs bathroom but hell that would be a quick fix and everybody knows that. Most of the time the handicapped seating area is filled up on the second level so it must not be that much trouble for other people either. But before a few get on here and bash me again, I know what the ADA laws are but that don't mean I have to agree with them all.

We even go to the pits IN HIS WHEEL CHAIR and I have no problems pushing his chair anywhere at SFS we need to go.

Just think of the People with special needs that will not be able to go anywhere else and watch a race or have to sit in a lower or grass area and eat dirt all nite.

So everybody else has to pay for his BS trying to make his point and make money off the system. And probably never has been to SFS or never planned to go anyway.

Shame on him.......

I'm betting he went one time, with a slight guarantee of legal help from some 'friends'. I mean, if he's gonna be lawsuit happy, might as well put him to work.........................

With respect to David Kimble, and Don Edmunds, I trimmed this photo a little to reflect the way our cars used to look.

I'm still sorting through all this as I can,

I do not see any specific reference to the speedway itself. It was most likely more against the fairgrounds, but not so much the speedway itself.
