We need all the help we can get ... If you have ever raced at SFS or have been to SFS as a fan please sign our petition . Or just don't want to see another Track get the boot from politicians....

Our web site has been updated for hotel reservations and other new updates on the rally visit.

With all due respect this is a dead horse. When a man like Emmett Hahn accepts the inevitable - a man smart enough to know better than to have USAC sanction his crown jewel (the Chili Bowl) - it is time to move on. I've seen people try to save Baylands and San Jose Fairgrounds Speedway but when the people who fought the good fight year in - year out say "enough is enough" experience says it's time to move on. Sad but true folks.

We (in Oklahoma City) are not only fighting the closing of our Race Track. It has more to do with the way that our City Officials choose to do away with a Top Five in the nation Dirt Track facility in leau of the Horse Community.
If you have never been to the Track I would suggest you keep your mouth shut or join in our efforts, on the other hand if you have attended a race at our facility maybe you should take the time to help us in our effort to preserve a piece of American History.
The Track is only 93 miles from the Chili Bowl. I challenge all that have never seen the Speedway to take the time to see exactly what we are fighting for.
State Fair Speedway is located at N.W. 10th and May Ave. in OKC. GPS the address and check out the facility. You may be surprised at what you see if you have never been there. The Southwest boundries of the State Fair park are at the intersection of I-40 and I-44 East.
Some of you West coast folks will pass right by the Speedway on your way to the Chili bowl. It is less than 1/2 mile north of I-40 on May Avenue. Or if you take I-44 East from of I-40 and you look to the right at that intersection you will see the State Fair Park, exit at first 10th street exit. Be aware you have to merge right promptly across four lanes of interstate traffic. The good thing is after you visit and view what we are fighting our City leaders over you will be able to easily back track to I-44 east and on to the Chili Bowl.
I certainly hope that everyone of the West Coast Teams take the extra 15 minutes to drive through the Oklahoma Fair Grounds to see what we are fighting for. My guess is that you will be amazed and join in on our efforts to save this piece of History.

Threadkiller,
Something has surfaced. That is all I can say.
We have accepted time and again that the other communities are better prepared for such things, and many times we have given up when we think, and sometimes know, that we are beaten.
Yet, as Oklahomans, we refuse to give up. Tell us the truth, and we will accept it--play us for fools, and you piss us off. We don't like that.

Way to go, and don't stop fighting to keep the track open no matter what. We didn't manage to save Manzy, but we never gave up until the walls came down. I'm proud of every single person who still knows how to fight no matter what the odds are if it's a good cause, and this certainly is!
For you guy's that just say "dead horse" and such...well lets just say I wouldn't want to depend on you in a pinch, not with a quitters attitude.

Well help me understand what you are trying to do here then. I have nothing bad to say about the speedway and have flown over it multiple times on the way into OKC. I know it has history and have ALWAYS wanted to see a race there. But even some of the optimists on the topic point out that it isn't an "if" but "when" situation. Are you going to fight to keep it open for a few more years? Or is there any chance that it can be saved for a decade or more? Anybody who knows me knows I am far from a quitter but I also wasn't born yesterday and have a fairly good grasp on the forces that can determine the fate of a facility like this.

Thread we are working on multiple topics to save this track. I am the person that has strated the facebook group. I can tell you we have the city officials running. I spoke at a city council meeting on Tues morning as well as a driver and a mother of a driver. Lets just say the Mayor was sounding like a typicall politician with back tracking.

Threadkiller, we appreciate your input. But if you have never visited the facility, you may want to step aside and let us in the know deal with what needs to be done.

Actually I can relate to what threadkiller is saying. In the end this is probably a losing fight. But that doesn't mean you don't fight. Everything reasonable should be done to save this track. If it doesn't work, then maybe the death of this speedway could bring about the birth of something good. But it would be much better to save this track then have to go through building another one.
Threadkiller, it only takes just a minute of your time to sign the petition. Maybe it won't do any good, but maybe it will. I have a daughter going to college in Edmond next year and was looking forward to taking in some races there over the next few years. I'd sure like to think that the track would still be there.

Just out of curiosity how much does his crown jewel pay to win. I know its a huge event with the biggest names in racing.

So we want those "who have never visited the facility" to help out or only "let those in the know deal with what needs to be done"???
Threadkiller simply gave his opinion off past results he has witnessed... he never promoted anyone to stop fighting to save the track... any sprint car fan will be upset to see another track close, regardless of it's history. I have to agree that it sure seems like a major longshot to save the track in a non-monetary fashion and it also seems to effort to save the track is only to keep it open another three years at best; the combination is a very difficult fight to win.
And believe it or not, "Oklahomans" are not the only race fans that "won't quit"... other tracks did not fold due to local race fans having less support to save their tracks.
Be careful not to direct the fight against those giving their pessimistic opinion and stay focused with the fight towards keeping the speedway open... I know myself and several other race fans (and most likely threadkiller) are supportive of your efforts!

Thank you, msu12 for bringing that to my attention. We need all of the support we can get. I was wrong in my previous post.
If you only knew how many phone calls and e-mail I have received in the last two weeks about the speedway. I apologise if I took offence to Threadkiller's opinion. I know we are all Racers and we all want what is best for our sport.

I believe that multiple input may have helped Ventura stay around for a while. It never hurts to try... and to point out if possible how much revenue the track brings into the city. Thank goodness Tulsa seems to appreciate the Chili Bowl and that revenue.
