Heading to the Chili Bowl in January and just wondering where are places to eat that are reasonable and good?

Hawker will probably send his dining in Tulsa guide...it's all good!!! AQ will chime in with his Albert G's promo as well!!! We always try to find a different place every year we go.

Ikes Chili (all meat chili and chili meals), Hank's Hamburgers, and Elmers BBQ are a must do. These are close to the Track: Goldies (Burgers), Coney I-Lander (chili cheese dogs). These are on the south side of town: Hebert's Specialty Meats (great Cajun food), Seigis Meats (amazing butcher shop with a restaurant). None of these are open after the races.

Breakfast; Try Cottons or Tally's. Tally's is close to the fairgrounds, 1102 South Yale Ave. 9207 East Admiral for Cottons both are good.

Ron's Hamburger's. Best sausage chili cheeseburger in the state. Several locations in Tulsa. White River Fish Market, Cheddars, Silver Flame Steak's for a luncheon steak, Hideaway Pizza and Johnnies Hamburgers are several we have visited in years past.

Yale & "Historical Route 66" is, I think at Yale and 11th - not far North of the Fairgrounds on the SW corner is a great place for breakfast - and possibly for all meals (reasonable & good). Besides - it's fun to "cruise" along 66 for a while. Also, there is a Coney Islander just North of Harvard on 21st St. There are several around town. I can't remember the name of the place, but it seems like it is on Harvard, South of 21st, where we eat sometimes after the races (on the left/East, side of the street). One night we even saw a red fox near the intersection of Harvard and 21st. Really exciting.

If you're into architecture, Tulsa has a great abundance of variety. Just drive around. There is also a Frank Lloyd Wright designed home in Tulsa... and some beautiful churches, too (Boston Ave. & 13th?). Just look closely at the Pavilion behind the Expo Center. Art Deco at it's best. Years ago they had indoor races there in the winter.

Not the most reasonably priced joint, but we found this gem last year while at the race. Truly authentic Irish Pub food and a stunning Irish Whiskey and Single Malt selection.wink If you budget for one night to spend a bit more on dinner.........try it out.

Los Cabos is really good mexican, it's located over by Bass Pro Shop, east of town on the BA expressway.

McAlisters Deli is east of the track a little on 21st Street.

I recommend the Speedy Gonzalex mexican restaurant located at 2601 South Memorial (about 2 1/2 miles east of the Expo Center). Excellent food with huge portions and enough menu variety for all appetities. Delicious mexican food that is cheap with excellent service!

Try the Freeway Diner at 4th & Sheridan. Homemade onion rings (awesome) and a real wide general menu. While you're there check out the old racing cartoons on the wall by Gill Cornett ( from the late sixties).
