Why is the City of OKC wiping out an entire industry?
Is using taxpayers maps money to wipe out an entire industry a wise idea?
In this economy we need every industry, job and taxpayer we can get.
It seems to me that wiping out millions of dollars in the OKC economy and hundreds of thousands in tax revenues and hundreds of jobs is a really poor trade out for a parking lot and glorified entryway into the Oklahoma State Fair Park.
Car racing has been a part of OKC's history and economy for decades. It contributes to the quality of life for thousands of Oklahomans and brings people and money from out town and of state to OKC.
Losing racing in OKC will cost jobs for the City, auto parts dealers, tire shops, paint shops, sign companies, restaurants, motels, food vendors, wholesalers, fuel suppliers, and hundreds of others secondary businesses. Losing an entire industry causes a major ripple effect. Even some residents will have to move to another city that has a race track in order to continue their sport witch will take some of our best residence from OKC.
If you don't want the race track at the fair grounds then build another facility for it in OKC like you did for the baseball teams. Racing brings in a lot more revenue and provides much more to our economy and quality of life than the ball park.
Don't be the one responsible for such a blunder. Promote keeping and upgrading racing facilities in OKC!!!

it may be too little too late but what if we could get the presidents of bass pro shops and devon energy on our side letters to the city from them could be huge in swaying opinions bass pro shops has been a sponsor in sprint car racing for quite a while now
