Flash bug them till they get back to you. I am betting they are sitting there going those damm rednecks want media coverage. I know that some of the media types know how we are but the most think of us as a bunch of toothless rednecks.
That is why the city does not want racing here get into the mainstream b/c people would be surprised of what type of people we are based on sterotypes.

I understand what you mean Erich! But just as that goes, look at what the rest of the United States thinks about Oklahoma in general. Alot think we still have no paved roads, cattle still run free & we all have horses as transportation!
Seems like most people in this state think there is only one sport worthwhile! And the racing coverage the Daily Jokelahoman does also sucks! Politics just suck in general as does the corrupt worthless pieces of crap running government. Its about how full can they get their pockets!
I'd better stop on that! I'm trying my damnest to do what I can do!!!!

I think this is all crazy I have been going to SFS since i was a little girl, I have seen a lot of things at that track. To many people go to that track to have fun, everyone of my friends I take out there always wants to come back. If SFS is torn down a lot of memories are gone with it. From crazy sprint car flips to good racing. It is always a blast going there. That is all I have to say about it.

The powers-that-be in OKC have been itching to close the Speedway for many years now, so they finally made up a BS reason to do it, and Cornett was all-too-happy to be the henchman.
Even with years of neglect, SFS is still one of the best dirt track racing facilities in the entire country. What's really galling is we just passed a long-term extension of the friggin' MAPS tax for capital improvements. They're awash with money, but it's necessary to tear down the Speedway because they can't possibly find a few dollars for maintenance.
It's utter nonsense and if they get their way, local racing will not recover for a long, long time. It's going to take a concerted effort from the entire racing community to fight them...

I'm begging everyone, if you're going to send something to the news or the paper PLEASE make sure that the grammar and spelling correct. This is very important. Everyone already thinks that we are rednecks, there's no need for us to bolster their opinion. Use spell check on your computer and if possible have someone proof read for you. The media will take us seriously if everything looks professional.

We ALL need to make sure they DO NOT get their way! The SFS is over 50 years old. This makes it a possibility to make it a Historical Monument. I am in the process of contacting the Oklahoma Historical Society to find out what needs to be done to make this happen. If we were able to make this happen it would be protected, and they would not be able to bring it down. We may be able to file an injunction to keep it untouched until this was approved. If it was made a Historical Monument, they could not knock it down, and they would want to fix everything and keep it running. I agree that the SFS needs improvements, but it is still one of the great facilities of the United States. There is also too much history involved! We must keep it standing for Appreciation, Tradition, History and Improvements to come!!
I hope & plan to gather all the information needed for:
1. Possible Ideas
2. Possible Solutions
3. Possibly making the SFS a National Monument
4. Fighting for Our Racing Home
Then we can plan a Big Meeting & Rally, come together as One Family and put all of Our ideas & information together to Win This Race!!
**Please call & Thank Channel 4's Bob Barry for his story last night.

Local racing will survive, always does, just will become a little longer drive. SFS is a decent facility, far from "one of the best". Follow the money, someone, some where stands to profit from this track shutting down. It's happening all across our nation. Bigger cities, better tracks falling by the wayside to the almighty dollar!

No matter what happens they cant tear it down so no matter what it will be there and no they dont need to do improvements on the track if they need improvements its on making it to where there is no favorites and all that bull when one driver starts up front everytime we draw for positions. The fairgrounds has some of the best racing in the state and im pround to say that i have been to and want to race at the fairgrounds. really its not even dirt there racing on red clay and thats some of the best stuff to race on to me it makes us stand out.

If it was made a Historical Monument, it would not be left there to Rot. If it had to stay there, they would want it to be used. They would finally put money into it. There are also grants for Historical Monuments to be renovated & upkept.

How long and hard would it take to get it put on the list?
