You've heard about it, and yes they raced, caroused, engineered,fought, and raced some more. This town was a spot on the map of the Road To Indy. Including many Indy 500 and Daytona 500 victors in the years after.

Racers that made their way through there,
AJ Foyt, Jud Larson, Lloyd Ruby, Jimmy Reece,Cecil Green, Bill Vukovich Sr., and a whole slew of famous and not so famous racers came through. They all only lived once and were as tough as nails.
Even Charlie Kammerzell had some track time out there and his first year included 'Rookie of the Year' honors.

Brian, I'm not positive but I think that video is from '58. My mom has a picture of my dad holding me as a baby & the #78 '40 model sedan is in the background!

Good stuff Brian, my High School Graduation from N.W. Classen was held at Taft Stadium some Twenty years after that video was taped and last year was my 30 year reunion......No wonder I'm such a grumpy ass.....lol

Yeah I didn't know how to get that 'fast forward effect' out of it. They still meant business though.
