Open that sucker up for this next year!!! If we can't have the track for much longer, we should at least go out in style. I don't think the 3/8 would have to be altered too much to make this happen. Pipe dream.

It would be totally cool (like - totally) if Shane could come in the last weekend for the fairgrounds and have people come in for free and revamp that half mile and run three straight weekend nights under MAR-CAR promotion. Bring in the WoO sprinters, the NCRA late models and the NCRA modifieds. All three were traditions at the fairgrounds for years and all ran on the famed half mile.
And for just one weekend, that weekend, the track would be known as "Fairgrounds Speedway," not this "State Fair Speedway" that the Holtz and ole Skippy shoved down our throats.

It would be nice if there was'nt all of the POLITICS involved with the Fairgrounds Speedway. Maybe we could kill two birds with one stone......Save the 1/2 mile, and Save the Facility.
Hey, I ate at the HOOTER'S today too!!!! You are right David the "smoke" aignt coming out of my ears either.......I knew, I should have stopped at the Wal-Mart on the way home to stock up on Charmain, and Milk...... For some reason I've been craving milk since lunch time.
This weeks laundry is going to be ugly.....and just from today's lunch. By the way does anybody know of a good Detail Shop. My front seat may need a little attention. No wonder why us boys can't keep our drawers clean during the day, we are either eating something we should'nt or drooling over something we should'nt, or both.
But seriously back to the topic, WE NEED TO UNITE NOW if we stand a snowballs chance in Hell to SAVE OUR TRACK.....

Anything is possible with proper funding
Biggest problem today with the 1/2 mile is the fact that two of the large light poles were knocked down in a storm two years ago. Those light poles were laying on the ground and the Fair Board had zero funds to re-set them. So, they were moved to help light the 3/8 mile track, as that is the one that is being used.
Those two were paid for by Lanny out of his pocket.
Second problem is all the storage of media on the surface of the 1/2 mile and the ramp dirt etc. So, if one had around $50,000+ they may be able to get started restoring the 1/2 mile to a point where it could be used once again, and with proper lighting. However, that would be a monumental task considering the future of the facility.
Difficult to find investors to sink money into something that is not owned by the operator. Like spending money on a rental property.

Lanny should make enough during the Chili Bowl, and hell maps3 part of it will go to remodling the fair grounds. Oh I forgot the race track is not in the plans, they are going to tear the S.O.B. down. Those want to be politicans that has to put their stamp on a project, That starts their own history and kills history that can not be replacied by rebuilding a new one somewhere else.

My Grandfather fought in the Second World War---To help save the world from the threat of the day. That war ALSO took millions of men and women to unite in order to make victory possible.
So, anything is possible.
We need one unifying show, placed at the right time, with the right mix..............................The anticipation and electricity of the show would have to be able to rival the best Christmas Day Morning you ever had as a kid.
Either to make a stand for survival, or a statement before it's all gone.................
The stands would have to be full, I mean to the point that USHERS would be needed. Right now it looks like a TNT style show is the best thing going moneywise on dirt, and that would be a great starting point. AND BY THAT I MEAN FOR THE PROMOTERS---WHO HAVE TO GIVE THEIR CUT TO THE FAIRGROUNDS BOARD.
There is a time and a place this could happen, but it would take everyone making the noise, and then actually showing up.
