I don' t know specifically how Steve is doing but I have had neck surgery. Mine was two level fusion, someone said that wasn't the procedure Steve had but anytime the start messing with vertebrae and discs I would imagine the recovery would be similar.

My experience was that they let me out the next morning and it took about a week before I could walk to the end of the block and back. At first I think the best thing you can do is walk I was restricted from lifting for something like six weeks. After about four weeks I could walk a mile and return to an office job. It was sore for a while and at six weeks I had x-rays taken to check that the bone graft was healing properly. That was my final visit and from that point on the lifting restrictions were progressively relaxed and the aching went away. Regardless of the extent of Steve's surgery I would think that his recovery and mobility would progress in a similar fashion.

Are we going to see him in Australia in a couple weeks? No, probably not. Florida in Februrary? Yeah, I don't see why not. Next season on the WoO tour? Shouldn't be any problem. You look at Steve and it looks like he's got a lot of upper body and neck strength and these Sprint Car drivers are like supermen when it comes to recovery time. Also, if it's not a fusion then there are a couple other procedures that are less invasive that probably have a similar yet faster recovery.

I'd say you're probably not going to hear much for a while because I'm sure he's laying low and going through the healing process. That would be my guess based on personal experience.
