After several rumors have been floating around, just got off the phone with Clinton Speedway promoter Joe Madore who informs that Clinton Speedway will be back in operation full-time in 2010 with regular Saturday night weekly racing.
Right now the modifieds are definate with Joe actively talking with IMCA about sanctioning the sport modifeds. There will also be afactory stock class. There will be at least one other division, an entry division, but he is looking at options.
They are in preliminary talks with USMTS and he would like to bring in OCRS a couple of times as well.
The weekly shows will end either the week before Labor Day or Labor Day weekend, which is to be determined.
More details as they are received.

Also heard that he is trying to get Charles Lupi to run it for him. I hope that he doesn't sanction with IMCA as that will be another tire we will have to buy and if your rims don't have IMCA stickers on them you will have to buy wheels also

I can't help but think this will be just another diluted weekly show. I don't know how they could consistently pull a respectable field....
I'd just be happy if they brought back/had 3 or 4 specials that were really good.
But I wish them luck - and considering my proximity to it will make my way there sometime. I hope it does work out good for the track, drivers, and fans. Who knows - if they had a respectable weekly show - I might go a few times. But most saturdays I would go to I-44 or ASCS races or something. However, I would like to see some specials there - especially OCRS - but if it was on the right weekend and nuthin else was goin on......I'd go to a big mod show there.
Hey wait a sec......is Clinton gonna run a Winter Nationals THIS year? if it was Halloween or November 7th weekend - I think I might go. Maybe I should check their website.

Clinton back in the hey days had a pretty good show. We would run 1200cc mini sprints there as a regular class and I was pretty impressed at the car count. That was one of the first time I saw an ASCS show. The other time time was at Brill's before Brill got it. Yes the ASCS did run at Meeker.
We ran 1200cc mini sprint nats at Clinton one year and thoughout the regular season we would have drivers pull in from Kansas and Colorado to race on a normal point night. The nats got a story done I think by Galeen in the old Open Wheel mag. I got the mag around the house somewhere

Thanks for the memory nudge, Catpuppy.....that mini-sprint Nationals was quite a show, and it pointed out one of the big problems with Clinton. The first night they got just a bit too much water on it and it was a slime pit, the second night a bit too little and it dried out in hot laps.....tough place to get right. Wonder what ever happened to the Colorado girl who won the main that weekend? We'd been running the Quad-4 midgets against the 1200's there all year, but they weren't interested in letting us run that show. Don't know what the sprints run with a wing set-up, but the midgets called for a right rear bar you didn't run anywhere else. Hope Joe can get the joint up and running again.

Galen last I knew she was running ASCS sprints up in Co. but that was back 8 to 10 years ago. Her name is Paige Lee. Doing a quick google search looks like she might be running 1200cc's up in Colorado again, Yea Randy Kohl's car would have won that night. Ed Wilson was drivng for the night .Ed saw the oil pressure going south in the main and pulled tha car off the track. He had the field covered.
Yea I agree with the slime pit on Friday night. I had to push a car off Friday night with a four wheeler and I got stuck in the mud on the bottom of 3 and 4 before the start of a heat.
Galen, Randy's son who was racing in that Nats race is now a doctor up in Miami Ok. He was in college at the time with me up at OSU. I left Stillwater early Friday to get to Clinton to get to the races.
