NEWS RELEASE:
I regret to inform you that the Texas vs Kansas sprint car invitational event scheduled for this weekend in Amarillo, has been canceled. Or, lets call it re-scheduled for Labor day weekend Sept 3, 4, & 5, 2010. Reason being low pre-entries. All entry fees will be refunded. The URSS race scheduled for last weekend in Wakeeny, Ks was knocked out by weather and was re-scheduled for this coming weekend on top of my race. However, I can not blame my low entry count on that alone and it was not the decision of the URSS head guy, Rick Salem, it was the track promoters in Wakeeny and I don‘t blame them either because there just isn‘t any more race season left. The SST series in the D/FW had also scheduled a race on top of my event too. So, I know when it’s time to fold a hand of cards and this is it.
I said re-scheduled but it will really be a different event. Here is what I am planning for Labor day 2010. First of all I will say we only started working on this year’s events on July 12. We tried to get the track into shape by doing a lot of re-modeling and we just could not get everything done that we wanted to get done for the 3 big shows for 2009. The first 2 went fairly well and we will be having the “HUNT FOR THE BIG DOG” $5000 TO WIN Sport Mod race again on. Sept 24,25,& 26 2010.
We now are planning on running a bi-weekly show next year on every other Friday and will be missing the Fridays that the sprints run in Lubbock. We will host 305 Sprints, sport mods and Thunder Bombers on our weekly shows.
Then we will be bringing back what we will call the 38th annual” SOUTHWESTERN CHAMPIONSHIPS” for 305 Sprints. The 3 day event will have twin features on Sat & Sun nights. One set of heats and features for the URSS cars for $1000 to win and another set of heats and feature for the SST/RACESAVER cars for another grand to win. These prelim events on Sat & Sun will be sanctioned if Rick and Smiley want them to be. Then on the last day we will offer up $5000 to win the feature on Monday afternoon that will be the top 10 URSS cars and the top 10 SST/RACESAVER cars from the points earned in the 2 prelim nights for a 40 lap feature paying the winner 5 grand and $300 to start. You could win $7000 if you are as bad as you want to be.
