O'Reilly/NCRA Changes Sprint Car Finale Date
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – Midwest City, Oklahoma – October 9, 2009 - Officials with the O'Reilly/National Championship Racing Association announced Friday the rescheduling of the series sprint car season finale. What was previously scheduled for next Saturday night (October 17), that date has been moved to Saturday night (October 24).
"Out of respect the tradition of the Devils Bowl Winter Nationals that weekend, we have decided to move our date so that sprint car teams wouldn't have to choose," said NCRA president C Ray Hall.
Four-time series sprint car champion Garry Lee Maier of Cimarron, Kansas will go into that night with a slim 20 point lead over Talala, Oklahoma's Zach Chappell.
The season finale for both the O'Reilly/NCRA modified and sport modified divisions will still take place on Saturday night (October 17) as scheduled.
