$3400+ dollars to the 50-50 winner. Holy smoke. I thought that $3300 at Castrol Raceway in Edmonton would be tough to beat. Some real 50-50 fans in Minnesota and Alberta,Canada. Is there a 50-50 draw at the Knoxville Nationals. PS TK from 21st (someplace back there) to 10 in first ten laps? Ain't been done for a while---??

Adding $6 trillion of debt in his 1st term and now if
elected again he wouldn't have to worry about an
electorate in 2016 so the sky is the limit. And his EPA
would continue to put the screws to oil drilling and
mining for coal. Can you say bankruptcy.

Kemenah: Something broke in the first lap of the heat and he retired to the pits.

Another incredible race at an equally incredible facility.

I believe the top 17 or 18 in time trials all broke the old track record that was set this spring by Travis Whitney.

This race was held at a world class dirt facility, nestled deep in the heart of modified and late model country. There were many, many people there that had never seen sprint cars, let alone the WoO,

Even with what appeared at first to be excessive farming of the track, it came in very nicely come feature time, with some incredible passing on the wide, high banked surface, not to mention the killer slide jobs.

TK was a rocket ship, till he tried to slide Steve and got turned around, just short of an incredible move.

The WoO can be proud of the racing that their guys have provided this week in the upper midwest, Clay County Fair and Deer Creek.

Hats off to those that put the shows on and those that participated. Too much to think about right now.

Anxiously awaiting Bill Ws report.

Knoxville has it during the nationals it is usually around 5000 something wed. thurs night($8000 this year) and more than that on Friday(they had to split between 2 people because they are allowed 1 big winner a year) and Saturday (was aroung 13,000 this yeatr.

The first year I went to the Chili Bowl (1999 or 2000) the Thurs night 50/50 winner got 6 grand, Friday night winner got like 8900, and on sat night the winner got around 11,500....I went back the next year and there was no 50/50.... I bet local government decided too much money was changing hands with them not getting a piece.

Loose is when you hit the wall with the rear of the

torque is how far you move the wall.

I know that local law around Eagle, Nebraska dictates that any 50/50 cannot exceed $500. If more than that is collected there has to be more than 1 drawing.

Sadly I couldn't win it anyway.frown

I am lucky enough to work at one of the best tracks
anywhere.

With all due respect to RPMX, I wouldn't go quite so far as to call either the facility or the race "incredible". The track is very good, well banked and wide. It was certainly very fast last night. It did come in during the feature, but never widened out as much as I hoped it would. The facility also looks quite good, at least what I was able to see of it.

The race was good, especially for the top three positions. They ran very close all race, but there was a minimum of lead changes. Other than TK, I didn't notice anyone else but Jac making much advance in position.

I'm probably a little biased because I arrived late, just as the national anthem was being sung. Based on comments made on this board, I tried earlier on Sat. to call and also order online. Unfortunately, the phone was on voice mail and the website apparently will not reserve tickets on the day of the event (not a big suprise). Anyway, grandstand was all sold out, but they were able to sell pit passes so we could walk to the backstretch and watch from a berm that allowed a view of about 3/4 of the track (and the wings going by on the backstretch). Of course, that meant standing all night. I'd say there were 3-400 of us back there. Seems like the management should have had some inkling that this was coming since it was a topic here as early as Thursday, I believe. The sad part is that there were bleacher seats stored back there that probably could have been set up. Also, the only concession area conveniently located was selling beverages only. I guess that balanced out as the $15 extra it cost for pit passes for my grandsons and I about balanced out what we would have spent at the concession stand. And it was nice to be able to walk through the pits and see the cars during the track work time, which did cut back the time we spent there after the races.

All in all, I'd call it a GOOD facility, a GOOD race, and a GOOD night. I'll go at least one more time if they have another sprint show (and I hope they do). I do hope, though that they can find a way to increase the SEATING if they have the WOO back.

The Outlaws series should add a new title to their marketing efforts: Breaking Track speed and attendance records since 1978.

I could not agree more on the criticisms of the track's lack of preparing for the crowd. They were selling reserved seats at walk-up, but people were sitting in them. Track signage stated "Seats without red dots were GA". Now you buy a previously unsold seat, and since it didn't have a "dot" on it (obviously unsold until the walkup) some GA ticket holders refused to move. Bad deal, and no ushers or track officials anywhere other than the ticket windows. I tried to be the voice of reason, but I guess the guy who was there at 5PM felt it was his seat, even though anoter person had the ticket in hand.

Re-working the track between the heats and dash was absurd. It was telling to see the number of WOO drivers who made their way to the pit stewards to voice their concerns. Not to mention it is painful to watch for us ticket buying fans. 35 lap feature was OK, I'd prefer 40 on an 11-second track.

I liked the track, as it was my first trip. I'd say they have a great foundation for what I hope will be a tradition for the Outlaws series. I'll definitely go back, but expect a couple fan-frienly changes.

IMO, this is the best dirt track within 100 miles of the twin cities.

Don't most of the concerns that you and BigGMan have lie with SLS promotions - overselling tickets like they always do and reworking the track - call of the WoO. When SLS promotes a race, aren't they responsible - the cost - for having everything needed in hosting a race - concessions, guards, etc.? Maybe I'm wrong, but I thought this is SLS deal - basically rent the track. Maybe I'm having a brain dead day with my cowboys losing last night. Can't even tell you how many times I've had issues with reserved tickets and someone sitting in our seats when we arrive and them bitching and moaning - always has been with SLS promoted races - I'm sure it's that way everywhere though. I'm sorry some of these things soured your night a little. That facility means alot to me and even being 100's of miles away now, will still go back every year.

Wingnut, I believe you are correct.

Ok, Ill agree that there were some things that needed to be addressed regarding an overflow capacity crowd. I believe they announced it was a record attendance, which was easy to see.

Our seats were purchases online Thursday morning, row 5 section C. Nice seats for as late as we were getting them.

Every WoO event that I have ever been to other than Kville, that has GA seating, has been a problem, particularly if you are unfortunate enough to get there late. They asked several times for GA seating to "get cozy" with your neighbor, so at least they tried. but in all honesty, my experience is that it doesnt work. Those GA seats will probably be reserved seats next year like they had to do at Jackson after the first Outlaw general admission clusterf. It just doesnt work. People that get there early, have a screw it attitiude and refuse to sit as tight as reserved seating.

The size of the reserved seats was generous, we thought.

I dont know if SLS oversold the show or not, but the seating capacity is based on known reserved seat quanity, and the GA seats are based on lineal footages of bleachers, divided by 18 to 20 " per butt . My guess is that GA seats are typically 30" or better per person, so they dont get nearly as many as possible if they were reserved.

I will say this though, stadium chairs suck and should be restricted at events like this though.

I went into the pits prior to the race and there were concessions/food, (if nothing more than a trailer) in the pits.

As much as SLS is partly to blame for the reserved seating debacle, they don't provide staffing for the track, or number of concessions, etc... Chalk it up for a first run at a new track.

In a prior life, I had worked with a track in promoting some racing. Bringing aboard SLS secures the dates, marketing, sales, etc... but I do beleive the responsibility is on the track promoter to staff it. SLS has promoting in the Dakotas now, and these same problems have gotten better, from the efforts of the track promoters. I'm not totally busting on DCS, only hoping some constructive criticism will help them out.

I do intend on making contact with the staff at this fine facility, and let them know how great the show was, and have a discussion about the problems we had to help make it better.

Hoping messages like this get heard from the family running the place. They nearly hit a home run, and after spending the prior week at Cedar Lake (always dusty), I can only wish the staff and team at DCS the best as I'd rather hit their track twice next year, instead of CLS for a July show.

For the record, in the past 5 years, I've attended nearly every outlaw show in Fargo, Grand Forks, Princeton (missed Brainerd LY), Jackson, Cedar Lake, Husets, and made Knoxville a couple times, but not for the nationals. Traveling from the Twin Cities each time. Most times my wonderful wife decides to stay home as she hates delays, shows that start late, seating issues (we always buy reserved) or have lines 400 people long for restrooms, albeit in a port-a-jon. This place is one she might enjoy.

It's not all about the men, promoters need to take this to heart.

I am a family member of "Sprint For A Cure Bob Buckmeier Foundation" the main sponsor for the event. I first want to say THANK YOU to everyone who made the event a success. My dad, Bob along with the rest of the family love sprint car racing. We were extremely excited about the opportunity to be part of this event and working with Deer Creek to make it a success. A simple review from me.

1. Thank you to all the fans that came and made the event the biggest in Deer Creek's history!!

2. Thank you to the family that runs the Deer Creek track for working with the Buckmeier family and making it a great event.

3. Thank you to the WoO drivers, not only on the track, but also away from the track.

Are there things that can be improved on---yes

Have to remember the biggest race event up to this point was about 1500 fewer fans than this event. I believe this is a good problem to have.

50/50 was only $7800.00 ---- just kidding (this was awesome)

Thank you for all the compliments and concerns. We hope to have the ability to have the "2nd Annual Sprint for A Cure Summer Clash".

Leave with one last thing. I don't think anyone would deny the feature was one of the best races anyone has seen in a long time!! It was a great night if you can hear the crowd over the cars during the feature...

Thanks to everyone!!

Yeah, I liked the raindate better, as well. It was a lot more convenient than a midweek race, I'm sure, for most of them who were there.
