Ford would be successful overnight. Anywhere there has been a Ford used in a sprint car for the last 45 years with decent talent behind the wheel and wrench, it is a car to beat. From Bud Grimm decades ago to Luna, to Beast's champ cars, to Hebing and Barger today in ESS. Luna's month old Ford ran 4th at its first Knoxville Nationals. Mopar hasn't done any improving on their stuff for 5 years and one of their cars is the fastest in the country as I write this. The idea you have to run a chevy to be competitive is a cancer that has held our sport captive since 1955. Karl Kinser has more talent than 3/4s of the current WoO mechanics combined and a Ford with an average wrench and multiple drivers was right on his heels for 10 years. Since chevyitis seems to be as bad as ever, Ford's involvement probably won't happen. If KKR thought a chevy was needed to improve upon thier best year ever, we will most likely be condemned to the same box as usual. For our sport's sake, I pray I am wrong. Anyone that enjoys the mechancial side of racing is hardly interested anymore with the carbon copys at the track these days
Luna's Ford engine style that won 2 WoO titles and 3
Kings Royals before a weight rule against the best EVER
in their prime and now DOMINATES super dirt late model
racing is no longer allowed/wanted in a WoO sprint
car.... Was Luna a miracle worker?

I find it hard to believe that the future of sprint car racing is dependent on loyalty to brands that do not support the sport. Ford, Chevy, and Mopar could care less whether a sprint car motor is based on technology and engine families that haven't been used for years. The only way a Ford could be competitive again is if someone stepped up to lighten them. That was the biggest complaint I heard about the Ford 410.

Sorry, but there are quite a few who'll disagree with you...including me...
If Fords were so strong during the Luna days, or now, don't you think that teams would be beating down the doors to get their technology and power? The fact remains, if there was demand during the Luna/Blaney/Bobby Davis era, Shaver would have been so busy building and selling Fords that he'd never have had time to build a Chevy.
But the facts are, he wasn't building Fords! The demand was for Chevys, usually based on a Rodeck or Donovan block. So by not selling Ford motors, there was little development, and most, if not all, aftermarket race parts for Ford motors are more expensive, if only because of low production numbers. And I don't think that the aftermarket will support a low volume motor of any kind; if the factory is not involved, you won't see Ford motors. The current "Chevy" 410 is almost entirely all aftermarket, and development continues, because people buy those motors!
I won't dispute the fact that the Roush/Yates 360 has won a few races, but it'll have to win a few more before I'm convinced. I hope Ford doesn't decide to pull the $$ and kill this deal, if only for your sake....
And "...a Ford with an average wrench..."? Kenny Woodruff was far from an average wrench when he was on the WoO tour. It's too bad that you cannot give credit where it's due....

I love Travis' (minthess) Ford smoke show. I agree with gdude... quit whining about it and put one together to beat those big bad bowties.
I'm starting to think minthess is to Ford as John Katitch is to Guy Webb.

Thanks for the reply. Shaver is great. KW was good. When Shaver was at the track with a fresh bullet built his way, Davis and Blaney could hardly keep it on the ground.
