I see the first night of cheaters day weekend has been cancelled. Are there any more cars expected for the saturday show, beyond the regulars? WoO show in Deer Creek the same night.

The perfect night to make up a WoO show was taken by Deer Creek.

What I don't understand, why didn't Husets take that rain date before Deer Creek did? Husets had rained out two times before Deer Creek was rained out!!!!

That's a very good question. But, first, you must know that Huset's requested that as a make-up date. However, it must have already been penciled in for Deer Creek by the WoO because they granted the date to Deer Creek immediately after their rain out.

There is a very simple explanation folks..............it's called SLS promotions. They are the "unofficial" controling body of the upper midwest when it comes to getting WoO shows. Why don't you think Jackson has gotten one the past 3 years? It's surely not McCorkils decision. There are politics in any aspect of racing these days, and in this case, I would about bet the farm this is the factor behind alot of what happens up this way. Just my .02

Ditto about the fairgrounds. They used to have anything goes policy on all cars and now just the 410 class has that option. Loved seeing the crazy bodied cars with wings attached and sheet metal cut off. Bring back the old days. In my eyes if you don't treat the drivers right they start to go away and along with them the fans also.

Ah yes the Fairgrounds. The spectacular wrecks, the ambulance delays, the dust. It was better as a 410 only show.

The fairgrounds track wasn't safe nor that great for close racing but it was certainly exciting. I remember the fast line around it as being almost a tri-oval. It was great to see the bright colors of JR SR and Don Mack pitch it side ways just past the flag stand. I also remember vividly pitting for Paul Poncelet when he won his first A Sprint Feature there. I believe he also won the inaugural Ethanol Race of Champions for some very good money as he was the only driver in the top five to exceed the required blend of ethanol for the bonus money.
It is sad the fair board didn't value the sport. The attendance always seemed very good at the track. In my opinion the track had untapped potential.
