Belleville Next for NCRA Late Models
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE - Midwest City, Oklahoma - August 30, 2009 - A labor of late models on the highbanks are on tap for the O'Reilly/NCRA late model division as they make their annual Labor Day weekend appearance at the Belleville Highbanks on Sunday night, September 6 and with it comes not only a challenge on the track but a challenge to see who can finally beat four time and defending series champion Kelly Boen. The series modified division will also be competing that night as well.
While Marquette, Nebraska's Kyle Berck looks to pick up his second career O'Reilly/NCRA late model championship, the story for the 2009 race season has been the record setting performance of Boen. The Henderson, Colorado driver has reeled off ten Hard Rock Hotel-Casino feature victories on the season, including five in a row. He also has amassed ten feature series victories on the famed half mile oval, the most of any driver in all the series divisions.
But Berck, who picked up a victory at the track last year, looks to stay consistent as he does have a 195 point advantage over Boen in the point standings. Jason O'Brien, who also leads in the series rookie of the year point standings, is settled in the third spot in points while Mike Collins sits fourth, 200 points behind O'Brien.
Other series regulars expected to tackle the highbanks include the following: Cory Zeitner, Bryant Goldsmith, Mike Wiarda, Wylan Petrie, Scott Koskovich, Jason Bodenhamer, Dave Conkwright and Delbert Smith, Drivers expected to also compete include Al Purkey, John Anderson, who also took home a victory from the half mile in 2009, Bill Koons, Joe Kosiski, Shawn Harker, Greg Larson and Craig Preble.
The famed Belleville Highbanks gates open at 5:30 PM with the first green flag falling at 7:30 PM. The track is located two miles north of US 36 on US 81, then one half mile southeast on M Street to 7th, then 0.1 mile east (located near water tower) at the North Central Kansas Fairgrounds where camping is available. Race information can be obtained by calling (316) 755-1781.
