Ken Gore Is The 5th Different Winner!
Front Row Challenger Thomson battles Gore for the win!

August 17, 2009 Race Report by Jeremy Queener
The event started with mayhem but led to amazement. A 12 car Talledega style pile up in the last practice session led all to believe the night would be filled with wrecks. To everyone's surprise, it was the best racing Go Kart World has seen. Kristlyn Queener set fast time in qualifying with a 12.702. Scott Dodd and Ken Gore timed in 2nd and 3rd with their 12.735 and 12.790. Three heats took place with 6 drivers in each and 3 transferring to the huge 75 lap feature. Heat 1 transfers were C.J. Gansen, Queener, and J.D. Laird. Heat 2 saw Dodd, a very strong Bryan Wiggins in second, and John Crow was the last transfer to the feature. Gore, Brandon Thomson and Jim Ryan made it through heat 3.
John Harjo won the Semi Main in good fashion with Jeremy Drew in second. Drew with a few unlucky breaks, was pushed to last at the beginning of the semi but made a usual strong run to the front with Cody Laney on his bumper for the final transfer. Unlucky transfers were Charlie Butcher, Reed Broschart, Carla Laney, Nick Bartell, Brett Laney.
The creativity of the Summer Shoot-Out led to the next 2 events. The trophy dash of Champ karts was 6 strong this night. Thomson took the victory while Dodd was spun on the first lap and finished 6th. The new double seat race was next on the schedule. Four teams of 2 raced for ten laps around the very slippery Slick track. Charlie Butcher and partner was the winning pair. Cody Laney/ Molly Mann took second, Thomson/ Broschart third and rounding out the field with a terrible dump truck push was the Dodd/ Laird team.
The 75 lap feature was what the entire crowd including all of the Laney, Kirby, Mann family were waiting for. The inversion was set for just the front row of Gansen and Dodd. Thomson took the front row challenge from the 6 starting spot. The front row challenge gives the opportunity for the top 6 to tag the back of the field for the start. If said person wins the feature, he will not only receive a respectable trophy, respect, bragging rights, he will also receive a free entry to the next event. With only one spin on a racing related accident, there was no reason for any cautions in the long race. Dodd, and Gansen took off as the leaders until Gore found a good line and eventually passed them both. Gansen was spun shortly after. Thomson was surely the show from his chosen twelfth starting spot. Gaining 1 or 2 spots a lap, he caught Gore, Dodd, Queener, Cody Laney. While Thomson Passed 2nd, 3rd, and 4th, Gore broke through to a half track lead. Gore caught lapped traffic around lap 60 and allowed Thomson to cut the distance. At lap 65, Thomson took the lead from Gore for a few laps. Gore cleanly took the lead back. Thomson had 5 laps to seal the deal. He pulled to the bottom of Gore and battled for a few more laps until the lapped car of Gansen lost brakes going into turn 1 beneath Thomson resulting in contact. Thomson fell 1 spot to Queener and finished 3rd. Gore wins the event and becomes the fifth different winner of the 5 events.
Go Kart World officials as well as myself would like to thank all the competitors and spectators for joining us.
