David Smith, Jr. NCRA Press Releases and Contingencies (405) 740-4769 NCRA Sport Mods to Invade Caney Valley Saturday FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE - Midwest City, Oklahoma - August 18, 2009 - The O'Reilly/NCRA sport modifieds are set to hit the track and the road once again as they head to Caney Valley Speedway in Caney, Kansas this coming Saturday night for their second and final scheduled appearance for the 2009 race season. Through five events that have been completed thus far, Chad McNamara of Blackwell comes into the weekend as points leader despite not having reached victory lane. With two victories on the season, Donny Raney of Amarillo, Texas currently sits second in the point standings, just 55 points out of the lead. Clinton, Oklahoma's Robert Elliott, who out ran a field of 33 cars for the victory during the series last visit to the quarter mile oval back on June 6th, sits third in points just 75 points behind. Veteran racer Frank Graven of Cushing is fourth in the standings with Elk City driver Randy Thomas sitting in the fith position. Other series regulars expected to compete are Todd Decker (Guthrie), Nick and Mike Shenberger (Enid), Bob Mock (Del City), Kevin Snow (Enid), David Givens (Perry), Landon Maddox (Fairview), Walter O'Dell (Hennessee), Perry Colby (Seminole), Don Reed (Sharon) and Hesston Shaw (Enid), Mark Willson (Enid) and Jack Taylor. To date, fifteen drivers have made all fifteen events that have been held while one driver has missed only one show. At the last NCRA sport modified event held at Caney the NCRA series had 22 drivers make the tow with twelve drivers from the Caney and Springfield, Missouri area also on hand. About the same number of cars are expected again for this meeting. Gates will open at 5:00 PM with racing set for 8:00 PM. This event will be race number six for the new O'Reilly/NCRA sport modified division with two more races scheduled following this event. Officials with the O'Reilly/NCRA are already making plans for the 2010 race season, which will be the 40th consecutive year for the series.
