open a charm school on how to lose GRACEFULLY and show the crowd he is a MAN. What a great race no .... make that the ULTIMATE race.
Being from Iowa we don't know much about Dave Darland but he has made a legion of Iowa fans with my friends and myself.
Can we take a collection for Kyle Bush ??? as he and Darland are POLAR opposites and for D.D. to 'school' young Mr. Bush to be as charming and gregarious as Darland would take ....oh ..... about ....several MILLION dollars !!!
Thank you Dave Darland for showing young kids not all race drivers are bungholes when they get nippped at the finish.
Dave ..... I doubt that you read internet posts ...but if you do ... CONGRATS !!! what a TRUE sportsman (and great sprint car driver) you are.

I agree, we went to the pits after the race and everybody that stopped by his hauler he was there tell them thank you for coming out and watching them race. Thanks Dave for coming to Iowa every year and giving us a great show.

Dave is a CLASS act both on and off the track and one of the best without a wing in sprint cars, midgets and the champ cars.

Dave's been around a while and has won his share of close finishes, just like the one he lost last night. Earlier this summer at Kamp during Indiana Sprintweek, he beat Cole Whitt to the line in a race that was even better than last night's (although last night's was VERY good). He was just as gracious in winning that race as he was in losing last night's. He even let us yahoos do a post-race interview on camera in his pit - and took a group photo with us. It'll definitely be one of the best lasting memories I have in my sprint car racing travels... and I've had quite a few! He's not only an all-around great guy, but a helluva competitor too. Keep doing what you're doing Dave!
