Are there any places to rent a golf cart while at Knoxville? Looking for something to get around a little easier while at the Nationals.

Also, what are the rules regarding the use of golf carts on the streets or around Knoxville?

Thanks,

Brad

And they DO enforce all those rules! Allways seeing someone getting a ticket driving a golf cart.

Also, the City of Knoxville is now requiring golf carts to carry insurance, which they will be enforcing.

Also if your favorite beverage of choice happens to have Alcohol in it, Don't have it on a public sidewalk or city street. They very well might hand you a citation rather than a warning.

Knoxville Police department has announced that they will not be enforcing the insurance rule this year as long as the drivers are obeying the rules and not causing a problem.

i think there used to be an "anything goes policy"...at one point there was a rumor that this even included boozing while buzzing old people's campsites at 4am...someone even suggested, depending on who you are, you could even get away with punching out the old people if they complained.

cops...what cops?

So if you were camping in the north campground, you have to drive on the grass along the sidewalk on the way to the track? Is that correct?

Anybody have any info on if you can drive a mule or ranger?

Great topic by the way!!!

If you drive a mule, you have to clean up after it.

So are ATV's aloud to be driven around kville? I do know from first hand experience that 1 should NOT walk around with a can of beer in hand!!! I had a "every day type" car drive up to me and this guy steps out in plain close and asked me what I had in my hand, I said a beer and he pulled out a badge and said DUMP IT, so I did!!! Guess I was lucky.

Why doesn't someone call the cops and get the straight scoop?

Better than dealing with hearsay or innuendo, and ultimately getting a ticket for something that a web posting said was legal, and it turns out not to be!

I just spoke with someone at the Knoxville Police Department...

1. Golf Carts only NO MULES RANGERS OR ATV's are allowed on streets of Knoxville.

2. Insurance is Required contact your home owners policy to add provision.

3. You are not to travel on Grass or Sidewalks near public or on main HWY 14 being one of them.

For those of you camping in the North Camp Ground you may Cross the HWY at any time, However you must use back roads across 14 to get to the track.

You must display a slow moving vehicle placard (Orange Triangle) as well as a Orange Flag.

Same rules apply as a normal car when traveling along road ways.

Good luck you all and have fun.

Knoxville Police Department Phone line (641) 828-0541, they will be happy to answer any more question to avoid complications with your trips.
