NCRA Sport Mods at Elk City Friday Night
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE - Midwest City, Oklahoma - July 28, 2009 - With four races down and four remaining, we are half way through the inaugural season for the O'Reilly/NCRA sport modified division. And fresh off their first ever visit to the Hutchinson Grand Nationals this past weekend, it is back to where the season first started as the series makes their second appearance of the season at Elk Citys I-40 Speedway in Elk City, Oklahoma this coming Friday night.
And with the half way season upon us it also brings a tight battle for the inaugural season championship for the division.
Despite not having reached victory lane yet during the 2009 race season, Blackwell, Oklahoma's Chad McNamara currently holds a slim ten point advantage over Amarillo, Texas driver Donnie Raney. Raney, fresh off a victory at the Hutchinson Nationals this past weekend, also won the season opener at the track back in March.
Sitting third in the point standings and a mere fifteen points out of the points lead is Robert Elliott of Clinton, Oklahoma. Robert has the other two victories on the tour.
Frank Graven of Cushing and Nick Shenberger of Enid are locked for the fourth position in points while Randy Thomas is just five points out is sixth.
Guthries Todd Decker is seventh in the point standings and after knocking a hole in the piston and the block of his motor while leading the Hutchinson Nationals feature, says he will be ready to compete.
Del City, Oklahoma's Bob Mock, Mike Shenberger and Kevin Snow of Enid round out the top ten in the point standings.
Other series regulars expected to compete are David Givins, Perry Colby, Landon Maddox, Hesston Shaw, Walter O'Dell, Don Reed, Kenny Morris, Mark Willson, Ross McCartney and Jack Taylor.
Track regulars that are also expected to compete include Levy Galmor, Rick Pittman, Jr., Rudas Gaumor, and David Loyd. Forty drivers embarked on the season opener back in March and the same is expected for this visit as well competing for the $500 to win Hard Rock Casino-Resort feature victory.
Gates will open at 5:00 PM with racing scheduled for a 8:00 PM start time. If you're a driver wanting to compete but afraid you will not arrive on time for the draw, please contact Chris Smith (918) 625-6200 or David Smith, Jr. (405) 740-4769 and they will get you taken care of as the series would like all to give all sport modified drivers a chance to compete.
Elk Citys I-40 Speedway in Elk City, Oklahoma. Track is located off of I-40 at exit 34 (Merritt Rd.), then half mile north and half mile west. For more race and ticket information, contact track promoter Brian Miller (580) 799-3331.
