David Smith, Jr. NCRA Press and Contingencies (405) 740-4769 NCRA Sprint Point Battle Heads for Hutch Nationals FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE - Midwest City, Oklahoma - July 22, 2009 - A pair of sixes reigns as the O'Reilly/NCRA sprint car division is set for the 53rd Annual Hutchinson Grand Nationals, this coming Saturday night (July 25) atop the Kansas State Fairgrounds in Hutchinson, Kansas. After his stunning last lap pass of race leader A.J. Selenke in the series last event at Dodge City Raceway Park this past Saturday night, Jason Martin became the sixth different feature winner in as many events for the 2009 race season. Also, the past six years running of the Granddaddy of all NCRA events, the sprint car portion has seen six different feature winners in as many events as well. Veteran Mike Chadd of Lincoln, Nebraska won his first nationals last year with Jon Freeman, J.D. Johnson, Derek Drown, the late Steve King and C.J. Johnson. With the top three drivers experiencing drama in the divisions last event in Dodge City, Garry Lee Maier of Cimmaron, Kansas over came and has taken over the points lead by 40 points over Zach Chappell of Talala, Oklahoma. Mike Peters is just 80 points out of first while fourth in points J.D. Johnson is 115 points out. Other series regulars expected to be on hand include rookies Patrick and Jeff Stasa, Mike Chadd, Luke Cranston, Selenke, Steven Richardson, Jason Schroeder, Kris Miller, Mike Chadd, Koby Barksdale, Corey Moore, Jake Martens and Rick England. Over thirty drivers from four states are expected. Pit gates open at 3:00 PM with racing on the grand ole half mile set for 7:30 PM. The Hutchinson Nationals are held on the Kansas State Fairgrounds in Hutchinson, Kansas, located West of SR 61 on 17th Ave., then north on Poplar. Pit gates open at 3:00 PM while grandstand seats open at 4:30 PM and racing set for 7:30 PM. Pit passes are $25 while grandstand adult tickets are $10 and $5 for children 6-11 yrs. of age.
