Where are all the racers?. There was 14 at Petaluma, maybe they had a huge car count at Placerville.. Two of the Petaluma regulars were at Antioch with GSC, McCarthy and Arriaga..

Also only 19 at Marysville and 20 at Pville. Car counts are down everywhere...
Some also may have been up at Gray's Harbor for NW speedweek.

Just my personal opinion but I think that this time of the year those that are not in the top 5 and therefore out of it for any points fund money at the end of the season tend to pick and choose the races they can afford to attend.
The way things are in California with state employees having 3 days of pay taken from them with mandatory furlough days off and others losing their jobs or taking pay cuts just to keep theirs has a lot to do with it as well.
Instead of complaining about low car counts, if you truly are a fan of racing, go out and support the teams and drivers by attending all the races you can afford to and show your support. I seriously doubt that there are many fans in the stands that fully understand all that goes into making it to just one race. The time, work and expense of just getting the car ready, getting there and back and doing it all over again for the next race takes a tremendous effort. Those teams/drivers want to race and put on a good show for everyone. The drivers that participate surely want it and will give you a great show.

I wonder how the old NARC Speedweek would go over these days. Just a thought.

Only 17 cars? Hey, that's 1 more car than they had at Santa Maria!
At least they had a good turnout for the winged 360s at Watsonville Friday night.

and 5 more than Friday Night Silver Dollar. 12 sprint cars is that SDS lowest car count ever? As long as it's good racing 12, 16 40 cars etc, we just want to see good racing, that is what people remember. congrats bk

Another GSC thought.........don't schedule race every week. I'm not sure the present economy can support the weekly expense. If you raced 3 out of 4 weeks you could maintain the integrity of a series (for those competitors that want to run a full series) and may attract more cars on a routine basis.
Without sounding contradictory a speed week could be included. Example, Chico, Antioch, Watsonville and Santa Maria in the course of five nights.

NARC speedweek was awesome, but I don't think there are enough 410 cars to support a speedweek. I would rather see a 360 speedweek.
If GSC could take the week off and there was a good purse for each race and a speedweek championship purse there would be tons of cars I believe.
My vision would be to start Wednesday at Ocean Speedway and have a GLR pts race/Speedweek pts race, then move up the coast to Petaluma for a Thursday local pts./Speedweek pts. Then on to the foothills for Placerville on Friday, then Marysville Saturday, and then on Sunday have the Speedweek finale/a Civil War pts. show at Chico.
After watching the great show put on at Watsonville Friday I have no doubt the competition would be just as high in 360s and the depth is just a lot better. And who knows what drivers would show up from outside CA to join the GSC regulars, CW regulars, and the local contingents at each track.

maybe there could be one or two off days to allow for travel/run home and grab more parts. I know alot of the speedweeks to our east do that. what would really be ideal is a track that could survive running a weekly show during the week. imagine marysville thursday chico fri and p-ville sat all running a weekly 360 show(yes they run 410s @ chico i know, just trying to think outside of thebox). maybe have a bonus point fund to the highest point finish avg at all 3 tracks. i know something happened between jpm and marysville but a boy can dream.......... right?

The real question is how long were the beer lines at Antioch!
Beer line report from the Midwest:
1) Eldora - very small lines at beer stand, maybe six people deep. I was able to buy a case of beer for $40. A six pack was only $10 ....... What a deal! Yes, they will sell you a case of beer! Way better than $5 a beer in NorCal and the two beer limit per person. The liquor bar had long lines but only $3.25 for Jack & Coke, also a great deal. We need a full liquor bar at Chico for the Gold Cup!
2) Limaland, Kamp & Twin Cities Speedway we could bring in coolers w/ beer ..... Sweet!
