David Smith, Jr. NCRA Press Releases/Contingencies (405) 740-4769 NCRA Late Models at McCool Saturday Night FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE - Midwest City, Oklahoma - June 15, 2009 - The O'Reilly/NCRA late model division is set to kick off three straight weekends of racing action beginning this coming Saturday night (June 20) as the tour makes its first stop of the season at Junction Motor Speedway in McCool, Nebraska. With two events in the books for the 2009 race season, John Anderson of Omaha, Nebraska, on the strength of his feature victory at the annual Alphabet Soup race in Greenwood, Nebraska over the Memorial Day weekend, comes into the event with a slim five point lead over 2002 series champion Kyle Berck. Bryant Goldsmith of Corning, Iowa currently sits third in points, just twenty points out of the top position while Jason O'Brien and Jason Friesen round out the top five in the point standings. Other series regulars expected to compete include Joe Kosiski, Steve Kempt, Shawn Harker, Mike Wiarda, Mike Collins, John Hampel, Ronnie Wallace, Craig Preble, Cory Zeitner, Jerry Warner, Kelly Boen, Jake Neighbors, Al Humphrey, Jason Bodenhamer, Travis Dickies, Scott Koskovich, Ted Martin, Wylan Petrie, Jay Stewart, Bo Egge, Scott Daly, Delbert Smith, Greg Larsen and Jace Kaser. Boen, a four time and defending NCRA late model champion who is coming off a Alphabet Soup he would probably just as soon forget, looks to improve from his 16th place in point standings on a track that he has tamed well since it first held an NCRA event back in 2004. The Henderson, Colorado veteran has eight series victories at the 3/8 mile, semi-banked clay oval and won the June event one year ago. Current points leader Anderson has two victories at the speedplant while Al Purkey is an three-time series victor there. Gates will open at 4:00 PM with racing set to begin at 7:00 PM.
