FABLED SURFNSPRINT COLUMN

Hi folks, this is Norm Bogan filling in for Big Mike. It was an honor
when Mike asked if I could step up, while he photographed the wedding
of racedriver, Greg Taylor.
Arriving in the early afternoon from a Friday evening race program
at Ocean Speedway in Watsonville, it was soon evident that the “pony
set” had reclaimed the stables and parking area from their higher
horsepower “NEIGH”bors. This on a day that the pits were overflowing
with 30 VRA Sprints, 17 California Lightning Sprints, 17 IMCA
Modifieds, 15 VRA Sport Compacts (front & rear drive), 10 USAC
Junior Ford Focus Midgets and 12 USAC Ford Focus Midgets. It sounded
as if Pooh’s Honey Pot had been discovered amidst all the other
racecars. They totaled about five when I first arrived, but we needed
a recess counselor to oversee them, after about 20 staged at the
starting line for the feature. Naylor should play “Flight of the
Bumble Bee” when they take to the race surface, under the guise of
being racing Go-Karts. Continue story
