www.OskyChallenges.com Goes Online!

(Bill W) June 8, 2009 – McTwo Promotions is proud to announce the launch of www.OskyChallenges.com! The site is dedicated to two of the most popular racing events on the calendar, the Musco Lighting Front Row Challenge, and the Searsboro Telephone Ultimate Challenge. Both events are held at the Southern Iowa Speedway in Oskaloosa, Iowa.

"I've been thinking about getting things online with a website like this, and with the help of www.DriverWebsites.com, we've got it!" says promoter Terry McCarl. "We want to get as much information out to the fans, as well as adding a historical element to the events. We want to make it as easy as possible for the race fan, and I think we have it with www.OskyChallenges.com. We'll always be adding to it, so check back often!"

The events, along with the Nationals events at Knoxville are a vital part of Southern Iowa Sprintweek. "We think we offer a great event for people of all ages, without raising the prices every year," says McCarl. "We always have plenty of giveaways for the kids, and try to make an 'event' out of it. We want these races to be an ideal retreat for any race fan, and we do our best to make this thing bigger and better every year!"

The 14th Annual Musco Lighting Front Row Challenge has quickly become one of the "must see" events on any race fans calendar, and will take place this year on August 10. Entertainment, as well as great racing is always a part of the "FRC", and this year the winner's share will be upped to $10,000!

Daryn Pittman won last year's edition, ahead of Tyler Walker, Tim Kaeding, Roger Crockett and Jason Solwold. You know the field will include the best in the sprint car business again this year, especially with the winner's share upped to 10K! The All Star Circuit of Champions will sanction this year's edition, assuring a solid field of cars again. Usually fans' eyes are focused on the rear of the field to see if anyone can claim the Front Row Challenge and $50,000 to win from the tail!

The best drivers in the "traditional" non-wing sprint car world battle it out in a "One night stand for 15 grand!" on Tuesday, August 11. The event will be again be sanctioned by USAC, ensuring that the best drivers in non-wing sprint car racing will be on hand. Last year's event was won by Dave Darland, and he was followed to the line by Kevin Swindell, Jerry Coons Jr., Cole Whitt and Hunter Schuerenberg. Darland paired with car owner Scott Benic, who has fielded three winning cars in the UC (also for Boston Reid and Levin Jones). They are expected back to defend their title. The action is always intense from the first green thrown to the last checkered flag at the Ultimate Challenge!

"We're excited about USAC being a part of this event," says McCarl. "You can't beat the winner's paycheck, that's for sure! Having Tony Stewart and Kasey Kahne bring their race teams is huge for us. There should be an impressive field of cars here! You never know who is going to rise to the top in this thing. We have a different winner every year it seems."

Don't miss either event…order your tickets by calling 515 957-0020 today!

Yeah .... the Obama supporters think 10th should pay the same as first. Everyone should get a blue ribbon lest their fragile ego's get deflated.

i didn't mean the payout to be 10,000 for 10th, i meant is the payout the same as it has been the last few years. I figured since they were paying 10,000 to win they would make starting the field more. but i figure this is a mccarl deal so it probably wont change.

Sit at the camper! Yea whatever!! Terry does a Fantabulous job at both of these events, don't forget the winters rear ends, wheels, & other various give aways he has. I realize it's not a brand new 410 motor but hey it's something. Great Job T-Mac & McCroskey & family & friends for both nights of entertainment. It's a huge race that week for the McCarl family as far as 360 & 410 Nationals goes and to take on the promoting task that he has done says a lot about his dedication to racing.

The Mopar Million was a one time deal. It paid out $200,000 to the winner and purse totaling $1,000,000.

I'm pretty sure it was either the teams or the fans that asked to have the purse spread around for the sprint car version of Earl's million dollar races. When Moran won the LM race, I believe there was a humongous pay drop for 2nd on back (like the King's Royal and HBO always have been - all the money on top).

Besides, I don't think Earl intended to have annual million dollar races. Those two races were something he wanted to do before he retired. The sprint car portion became the $50,000 to win Mopar Thunder races that were around for a few years after the Mopar Million.

Wow, we raise the amount to win and people complain? Let me remind you of some of the things that have happened at this "McCarl Deal". We have gave out 12 Winters rear ends in the last 3 years, each rear had the retail value of $2000. We gave away 3 Chassis kits two years ago, an Eagle, a J&J and a Schnee to heat race winners. We also had a JEI chassis there to give away but only ran 3 heats that night. Last year we had a foot race that paid a brand new set of All Pro heads valued at nearly $5000! In the past the foot race has paid $1000 cash. We have gave out 12 KSE power steering pumps, over 40 Hoosier tires, Goodyear tires and American Racer tires over the years. Weld Racing, Sander Engineering and Real Wheels have combined to give out more than 40 wheels over the last 13 years. Let's not forget all of the products from Hank's, Pro Shocks, Saldana Tanks, HRP, Vortex Wings, Schoenfeld, ButlerBuilt, Wesmar, Kears Speed Shop and Jocko's Sprint Parts. I know I am forgetting other vendors that have contributed and I apologise. Rusty Rogerson supplies us with some of the most beautiful trophies that you will ever see. He also supplies heat race trophies that we have the drivers give out to the fans. Duane Davis supplied us with the Championship Belts over the years and he will be missed by all of us. We raised the bar for the Non-Wing racers with the biggest one day show in the world. Although we have lowered the first place money to $15,000 to win, to our knowledge it is still the highest paying one day Non-Wing show and it's success was certainly the reason that Knoxville has decided to add a USAC show on Sunday. Both races still pay $500 to start and at least $1000 for tenth. We try very hard to make all aspects of our shows enjoyable to not only the fans, but the owners and drivers as well. What you need to understand is that we WANT someone to win from the back! It is an insurance policy and although it went up when Jac won, it was of the most memorable events ever. We needed to raise the amount to win to attract the top teams to race a few days before the Nationals. We are also concerned that no one will take the Challenge so we are talking to the insurance company about making it a 30 lap race. As far as the All Stars are concerned their events attract some of the best racers in the 410 ranks. The All Stars have a lot of history and whatever you think of Mr. Webb he is trying to promote 410 racing not only with the All Stars but with his Midwest All Star group. The FRC will award All Star show up points only and we will continue to run the event the same as we have the last few years. If you look close at the things we do at our events we think you will see a lot of promoters following suit. We want sprint car racing to succeed and we feel that we have also raised the bar on the promotional side. Promoting any event is very risky and there is a lot more to it than the average fan thinks. We really enjoy promoting races and plan to do so for years to come. And as usual you can get your tickets by calling 515-957-0020! LOL! Lori McCarl

I believe the Mopar Thunder actually replaced the HBO. Then there was the Mopar Thunder at the 4-Crown Nationals, which is now just a shell of its former self, sponsored by Stewart Hupming Chevy.

Lori,

I along with a few other thousand fans would agree you guys do a SwHELL of a good job with the Oksy festivities. Didn't I see Terry in SC&M Mag a few months back as getting some sort of promoter of the year props? Good Times....
