Allen carries on with family sport. Dustin 'Hollywood' Allen has been chasing checkered flags on the high-banked oval at the Garfield County Fairgrounds for nearly a decade. In 1999 the 16-year old rookie buckled into his first street stock and has remained faithful to the popular class. 'When I started racing street stocks they were alot different,' said Allen. 'When they combined street and pro stocks the cars really evolved. But then again, I've evolved a lot as a driver in order to get faster.' Allen is carrying on a family tradition as a weekend warrior at Enid Speedway Park. According to the avid racer, he remembers playing in the grandstands with his 'Hotwheels,' wating for his father, Roy Allen Jr., and cousin Marvin Allen, to compete. As a young teen, Allen accompanied his father to the pits on race day, where he worked as a body man on his dad's quick ride. 'I decided that I wanted to start racing when I was just a kid,' said Allen. 'When I started 10 years ago, my dad retired and let me take over. He still enjoys being involved with my team.' This young gun pilots the fast No. 11 street stock which was built from the ground up by Allen over the winter months. It sports a Chevrolet metric chassis and is powered by a motor built by Dunsworth Machine. 'Dunsworth and the guys do great work and have been a big help to me with this car,' said Allen. Crew members include Michael Bierle, Aaron Bliss, Zack Meeks, Shannon Swan and Jacob King. 'Aaron and Michael have been with me for the last five years,' said Allen. 'I want to thank all the guys for their hard work, including John Francis, who comes down to help every week. I could't do it without them.' The waning economy has been hard on the sport of stock car racing and made it difficult to find sponsors. This dedicated driver's persistence paid off as he picked up Ag Aviation out of Pond Creek, SMPC, Inc. Plugs, Packers, Sales and Service, Eagle Graphics and his own company, Allen Tile, this season. 'Sue and Andy Deterding with Ag Aviation have been great this year, along with Steve Bazzetta of SMPC,' said Allen. 'It was really hard to get sponsors this year and to be honest my dad and I have footed a lot of it this season.' This devoted competitor has high aspirations for this year. 'My goal is to try to win the championship and do the best we can in the $10,000 to win Street Stock Nationals in September,' said Allen. 'Last year our goal was to make the main event. We made it but we crashed and I almost cut my toe off. There are a lot of fast cars at the nationals and it just felt good to make the show. In fact, despite the adversity, it was the highlight of my racing career.' Allen has made headway toward making his goal this year with three 'A' feature wins to date aboard his quick new Chevy. It is definitely a good start on his chase for the crown.

Last week we only had 39 cars. On a normal night we have around 70. Most of are
sport mods were gone last week and will be gone tonight also for there NCRA show.
We have around 30 sport mods when they are not with the NCRA shows. So if anyone
is looking for a place to run tonight we would love to have you. 'JMO' but I look
forward to the nights there is not a NCRA show for car count reasons only. Hope to see
some of you out of town racers tonight.

pay the sportmods the amount that would usually go to the modifieds(because there arent very many modifieds) and you wouldnt have them guys leaving for a show else where. Give them a reason to race full time at Enid and to race for a track championship.... Honestly, what does a track champion get that tenth place dont? A bigger trophy???

I like your car count numbers better then mine. I think yours is 45 not counting the 3 factory stocks.

No, I was only speaking about Enid Speedway Park,
I was simply stating to pay them more and they would stay and you would get the out of towners also and other tracks such as SFS, Brill, and Elk City give thier point champions more than the others. Im just trying to give you ideas on how to keep your cars in Enid.
The wife and I are headed to Caney to watch the NCRA Sportmod show and the USRA Modified show. It should be well worth the drive.

Its about the same at every track. I wish it was like back in the 90s 'money wise'

its not always about the money... I just said that because this is by far the premier class at Enid Speedway Park, seriously though, Enid could average 45 sportmods per night if they were paying 500.00 to win and 50.00 to start every weekend. I think that a points champion deserves more than anyone else in thier class!!!
I hope the car counts pick up but I believe it will be hard in this economy.
As for your statement about the payouts, it was better last year.... Really, the only problem with the payouts is, that no matter what class you are in, if you finish dead last you should get back your pitpass money.

I was there, my wife decided she didnt want to make the trip to caney and I didnt want to go by myself. Craig called and offered to pay my way if I would help him get the car lined out. He said that he was much more comfortable tonite and I believe we will have all the kinks out shortly. My wife made it clear that I couldnt get completely involved again. She said she wouldnt give up her time anymore..lol lol lol
It was nice to be back at the track and see all my friends but the state of the economy really set in with me when I seen the car count. I hope it gets turned around and the track can get car counts back over a hundred. I heard that there will be a special show on july 4th for the sportmods and modifieds, is this true? Let me know...
Thanks

Baby Jaryn should be arriving sometime around the last week of August. My wife and I are truly excited and anxious for the time to come.
