Anyone have any info on either driver's condition? They were involved in a nasty crash in turn 4 on lap 18 of the King Doodlebug A Main Friday night at Knoxville. Ray flipped several times then was struck head on by McDaniel and both were transported to the hospital by ambulance. Ray originally walked away from the crash but was transported shortly after while McDaniel looked to be alot worse and was taken to ambulance on a stretcher in a hurry by the track rescue crew. I hope the news is good for both but just wondering if anyone has any updates?

Sorry to hear of this unfortunate accident. I had the pleasure of interviewing Chad McDaniel in one of my columns. He was a great racer and a great person on and off the speedways. He had an Okie, Eddie Matin driving his back up car many times. Our prayers are with his family. RIP Chad you will be missed.

I can confirm what Davey Ray's Web site says - received an email from his sister earlier this morning. A horrible story, and the part of racing that makes me cringe.
Here's my story on the accident from Examiner.com. Anyone who thinks that race fans are bloodthirsty ghouls just waiting for a big crash have no idea what it feels like to be at a race where someone is seriously injured or killed. My mother stopped going to races after a bad crash involving Gene Manhire in the 1990s at Kings Speedway.
