Veteran open wheel racer Rick Setzer will join the team in the broadcast booth at Canyon Speedway Park starting this Saturday night April 25th. "We're excited to have Rick join us at Canyon and in particular join me in the broadcast booth" said Canyon's Pete Steele. "Rick has been a friend of mine for over 20 years and I think the race fans will have a great time getting to know him as part of our announcing / web broadcast team".
Rick began his racing career in 1971 driving a stock car in the claimer division. In over 38 years of racing Setzer has wheeled Super Modifieds, Winged and Non - Winged Sprint cars, Dwarf Cars, Bombers and everything else he could strap into and has also officiated, flagged and announced races. "Having another person on our staff that can do all the different jobs that Rick has done at a race track and add to that his years behind the wheel of a racecar is a huge benefit for us at CSP" said Canyon owner/promoter Doug Gabbard.
Setzer's open wheel knowledge will be needed immediately as the ASCA Non-Winged Sprint Cars return to action at the 3/8's mile Peoria oval. Joining the Sprint Cars will be the AMMA Non-Winged Modified Midgets, IMCA Southern Sport Mods, Pure Stocks and Bombers.
"Our crowd at the last Sprint Car race was incredible and we are looking forward to another packed grandstand this Saturday night" added Gabbard.
