Attention: All USMTS drivers, car owners and chassis builders

United States Modified Touring Series officials released a statement today regarding the issue of raised and/or altered frame rails.

All chassis that have had the factory frame altered to raise the right front frame rail SHALL BE REPAIRED BY MAY 15, 2009.

Effective immediately, all frames that have been altered must run at least a 550-pound spring on the right front until the frame is repaired.

As outlined in Article 6.2 in the USMTS rules, the frame may only be altered for the installation of springs, shocks and radiator clearance.

THIS RULE SHALL BE STRICTLY ENFORCED.

All frames that have been twisted must be repaired immediately.

Here is the reply I got from IMCA...

NO you can't. Anyone found with their rail tipped up will be DQ'd.

Ok.. Just got off the phone with Todd Staley at USMTS and asked him which cars were illegal. His statement was everyone needs to ask their particular car builder but also stated anyone with the new OEM front clip on their car is probably more than likely going to have this adjustment done to it. Also, he stated that most everyone that has an original chevy clip would more than likely be legal.

David, is the NCRA going to follow lead on this? And i guess i should ask is the local tracks going to start enforcing this?

Talked with Steve on my TRE and he said that he had only built a couple of cars like this per Customers request and that the TRE chassis would not see any Problems.
