Apology Statement from NCRA (David Smith, Jr.) - Park City, Kansas - March 25, 2009- On the heels of the highly successful season opener for the new Oklahoma modified and sport modified divisions at Elk Citys I-40 Speedway in Elk City, Oklahoma where 43 modifieds and 40 sport modifieds filled the pit area, the Park City, Kansas based O'Reilly/National Championship Racing Association would like to apologize to the drivers and fans on one oversight that occurred well after the Cherokee Casino-Resort features were complete. Following the final event for the 2008 race season, plans were already underway for a new point system aimed at a more competitive championship battle for top ten in the final point standings. In early November, a new point system for all divisions was revealed and posted on the official NCRA website. However, in order to have a more fan friendly website with more added features, the series developed a new website during the winter and with the announcement of the new Oklahoma modified, sport modified and 305 sprint car divisions, there were a couple of oversights on the final product. While most were caught and taken care of, one important item that was over looked was the addition of the new point system for all divisions on their respective rules page. NCRA president C Ray Hall and all NCRA officials want to sincerely apologize that this error was not caught before the season opener. The problem has been dealt with internally and the point system that is now in place is the official point system for not only the new divisions but its current 360 sprint car, late model and modified divisions as well. NCRA deeply regrets the confusion and misunderstanding that this has caused for not only the much appreciated racers but fans of the series as well. The O'Reilly/National Championship Racing Association is entering its 39th consecutive season of sanctioning dirt track races in Kansas, Oklahoma, Nebraska, Iowa and Missouri and welcomes the drivers and crew for not only the new divisions but all divisions as one. For any further questions, to schedule an event or to climb aboard as contingency or presenting sponsor for the series in 2009, please contact the NCRA office (316) 755-1781.
