Starts out at West Siloam Speedway THIS FRIDAY!!!!

-------------------------------

Combined $21,000 to win for 10 races that take place over just FOUR weekends in April and May!!!

Starts April 3rd at West Siloam Speedway in northeast Oklahoma and ends at Houston Raceway Park on May 9th -- a six week-long "regular season" with 2 weekends off!

Then later, go for $36,000 more over just 2 more weekends and another 9-day stretch at this fall's USMTS Southern Series Hunt for the Championship!

WEST REGION (10 events):
Fri Apr 3 … West Siloam Speedway, West Siloam Springs, OK ($2,000 to win)
Sat Apr 4 … West Siloam Speedway, West Siloam Springs, OK ($3,000 to win)

Fri Apr 17 … Golden Triangle Raceway Park, Beaumont, TX ($2,000 to win)
Sat Apr 18 … Gator Motorplex, Willis, TX ($2,000 to win)
Sun Apr 19 … 105 Speedway, Cleveland, TX ($2,000 to win)
Fri May 1 … Lake Country Speedway, Ardmore, OK ($2,000 to win)
Sat May 2 … Cowtown Speedway, Kennedale, TX ($2,000 to win)
Sun May 3 … Heart O’ Texas Speedway, Elm Mott, TX ($2,000 to win)
Fri May 8 … Battleground Speedway, Highlands, TX ($2,000 to win)
Sat May 9 … Houston Raceway Park, Baytown, TX ($2,000 to win)

This region seems suited best to most Texas racers including Houston and Dallas areas as well as most Oklahoma and southern Kansas racers too. Maybe even the Las Cruces, New Mexico crowd can work with this one. With five races around Houston and then the whole Hunt within 100 miles of the big H, Houston would have to be considered the home team but the DFW area has a big 3-race weekend along I-35 too!

Start out with the biggest tow of the year for the Houston crowd though for a combined $5000 to win weekend at West Siloam Springs way up on the Arkansas-Oklahoma line on April 3rd and 4th. That's the furthest north Southern Series in either region. Don't fret though. The Tulsa and Fayetteville guys have two road trips to Houston coming up for their long tows. Take a weekend off and then race Beaumont, Willis and Cleveland on April 17, 18 & 19. Take another weekend off before ending the regional tour with 5 races over 9 days. The "I-35 tour" will be good for the OKC guys and should be in the wheelhouse of the DFW-Waco crowd as the Southern Series Western Region makes a return weekend to Ardmore, OK and Cowtown on May 1st & 2nd and then visits Waco's Heart O' Texas Speedway for the first time on Sunday, May 3rd. The Western Region tour ends with 2 very important races at Battleground and Houston Raceway Park -- 2 tracks in the same neighborhood -- on May 8th & 9th.

Why are they important? Well not only does it settle the regular season points title and gets you seeded for the Southern Series Hunt but six of the eleven Southern Series Hunt races will take place at those 2 tracks! The Hunt starts out back at Battleground on October 1st and the 3-day December HRP finale pays a combined $9000 to win at the third annual Texas Winter Nationals.

Counting the points title from that Southern Series Hunt, the Western Region tour together with the Hunt pays at least $59,000 for just 22 races to the winners and they only take up 8 weekends with 2 of those weekends involved in late season "speedweek" of sorts. How is that beatable in the Texas-Oklahoma Modified world? I don't think it is. The Southern Series will also pay down 15 spots in points in addition to the $10,000 for the champion.

Each Western Region race also pays at least $250 to start the A-mains to drivers with a USMTS-license on an early entry fee of $80. Non-qualifier tow-money is $80.

And they've increased the starting fields this year as well. At events with 41 cars or more (over 90% of all Southern Series races held in the first 2 years had more than 40 cars!), 22 cars will qualify through the heats and B-mains. 2 USMTS provisionals will be added and then if the race is held at a track that regularly races Modifieds, two track provisionals will be added to make up a 26-car field. If they don't run Mods regularly at a track, they will start 24. If 40 or less are there, then 20 cars will qualify through the heats and B mains and either a 22-car or 24-car A-main will follow.

Then, there's this:

Quote:

TOP DOG BONUS:

USMTS Southern Series: Beginning with the third event, drivers will be guaranteed a minimum of $300 against winnings at each event where that driver is among the top-10 in points. Drivers ranked 11th through 15th will earn a minimum of $200 against winnings. Drivers must have perfect attendance to be eligible. See the www.USTMS.com/rulebook.asp for complete guidelines.

A Southern Series license costs $200 in 2009. It's good for any race in either of the two regions as well as the Southern Series Hunt. 33 races in all if you like but it only takes one 11-race region to qualify for the 11-race Hunt!

You may want to take advantage of that. If you decide not to race both regions, you can enjoy a racing vacation where points don't matter. Join the Eastern Region for Speedweek from June 9th to the 14th. It starts outside Fort Smith (Tri-State Speedway) on a Tuesday, weaves it way across Arkansas and Louisiana and ends outside Shreveport on a Sunday night. $12,000! Six $2000 to wins in six straight nights! Hope you got that vacation request granted.

Now about the Hunts....

The USMTS Hunts are like NASCAR's Chase. At the start of the Hunt, everyone gets their points reset to where the leader has no more than one race's worth of a points lead on anyone else in the Hunt. It's the "post-season"!

The Southern Hunt breaks down into two weekend trips to Houston: One at the first of October and one three-weeks later. After that, take a month off, have an early Thanksgiving dinner on Thursday and drive south! Six races in nine days at Texana Raceway Park & Houston Raceway Park plus a Wednesday night practice at HRP so only two days off that last week. If you haven't been to Houston Raceway Park yet then trust me, it's a great place to end anyone's racing season and if you can get a vacation planned for it, you got two free days that week for golfing, fishing or perhaps Christmas shopping (especially if you brought your wife down with you). The only thing I've seen that compares to HRP as a facility is the Texas Motor Speedway Dirt Track.

THE HUNT FOR THE USMTS SOUTHERN SERIES CHAMPIONSHIP (11 events):

Thu Oct 1 … Battleground Speedway, Highlands, TX ($1,000 to win)
Fri Oct 2 … Battleground Speedway, Highlands, TX ($2,000 to win)
Sat Oct 3 … Battleground Speedway, Highlands, TX ($3,000 to win)
Fri Oct 23 … Gator Motorplex, Willis, TX ($2,000 to win)
Sat Oct 24 … Gator Motorplex, Willis, TX ($3,000 to win)
Fri Nov 27 … Texana Raceway Park, Edna, TX ($1,000 to win)
Sat Nov 28 … Texana Raceway Park, Edna, TX ($2,000 to win)
Sun Nov 29 … Texana Raceway Park, Edna, TX ($3,000 to win)
Thu Dec 3 … Houston Raceway Park, Baytown, TX ($2,000 to win)
Fri Dec 4 … Houston Raceway Park, Baytown, TX ($3,000 to win)
Sat Dec 5 … Houston Raceway Park, Baytown, TX ($4,000 to win)

But there's even more to this if you're game! This schedule may seem to be too far off for your liking but I bet you'll like what they pay to win each USMTS National Hunt for the Championship this year! Nearly every race jumps up to $3000 to win! There are 18 races in all in this NASCAR-like chase. The top points getters and perfect attendance cars from this Western Region and the national regions will have their points total reset to where the point leader won't even have one race's worth of points for a lead. So everyone practically starts out even -- just like a post season playoff or like NASCAR's chase. This post-season starts out on August 11th with 5 races in 5 nights -- all $3000 to win -- and the first 4 are at Mo-Kan tracks! After 4 days off there are 3 shows in 3 different states -- Minnesota, Wisconsin and Iowa -- in 3 nights. The Hunt is off from August 23rd to September 1st but then picks back up with 5 races in 5 nights in Iowa and Minnesota starting September 2nd and lasting through Labor Day weekend. Almost two weeks later, they start the final stretch on September 18th with a combined $5000 to win 2-shows-in-2-nights in Brainerd, Minn (now there's a motorsports town!) which leads into practice and pre-Fall Jamboree festivities for the big finale at the annual Featherlite Fall Jamboree at the now famous Deer Creek Raceway in Spring Valley, Minnesota on Sep 24th, 25th and 26th -- a combined $12,000 to win over the 3 days!

The license for the National Hunt will cost you an additional $100 UNLESS you possess at least one other National Region License like the Mo-Kan Region for example. If you have the Mo-Kan license ($150) and the Southern Series License ($200) the National Hunt license is included free.

There's also a Top Dog Bonus for The National Hunt:
Quote
TOP DOG BONUS:

USMTS National Tour: Beginning with the third event in each region, drivers will be guaranteed a minimum of $400 against winnings at each event where that driver is among the top-10 in points for that region. The Top Dog Bonus will begin with the first race in the Hunt for the USMTS National Championship. The Top Dog Bonus is not in effect for the Sept. 18-20 Featherlite Fall Jamboree. Drivers must have perfect attendance in region to be eligible. See the www.usmts.com rulebook for complete guidelines.[/quote]

I may have to make one night at Lawton for the All State Modified deal and one night at Siloam Springs. Siloam usually puts on a good show and USMTS president Todd Staley and his staff (family) runs a very smooth and effecient show. There will be no late nights if they can help it.

If you have never been to Humboldt for a modified show then this is a must for fans and drivers alike. Was there covering for NCRA on the modifieds when they were there and was an outsanding race. I have traveled all the way up there (and back same night) to watch two USMTS races and once again an outstanding show.

Lake Country Speedway (Ardmore) and Cowtown Speedway (Kennedale) are also "must see" shows anytime but also when USMTS is competing. The year end, three day weekend down at Houston Raceway Park just may have to get me to travel to the track for the first time since the ASCS was there in 2000 I believe it was.

My loyalty is naturally with NCRA but will make any and all shows with USMTS that I can make. Great racing and great shows are always with USMTS.

Well we got the East region started 2 weeks at I-30 with 70+ cars -- now it's time to get the West started at West Siloam this weekend. Here's the latest release from Jeff. Remember, the So. Series West Region cars only have to run the West Siloam shows on Friday & Saturday but hey, if you want to do all 4, I'm sure we won't object!

Power-packed four-race weekend on tap for USMTS drivers and fans
