Jiggs Founds of Amarillo had a little spare time and an old friend in the garage.

Right over the rearend, probably around 8 gallons. Gasoline allowed for a smaller tank.

Brian,
Sweeeeetttt!
Give us the history on this fine piece. That is half the fun Were did he ever dig up the ribs for the front? Tell Jiggs to not ever let a clay clod touch that paint job and dull it!
Thanks for posting.

It's been a while since I've seen an in/out box...
That brings back some good memories!

Beautiful work! That reminds me of the old "B" car class that they ran at West Memphis, Arkansas. I used to watch those cars when I was a little kid. I think the official name of the class dating back to the '70s was modified sportsman. Everyone called them "B" cars though. Sprints were "A" cars, stock cars were "C" cars, and these cars were "B" cars. I would also be curious as to the history of this car. It is really a piece of art.

I'll try this again, messed up the first time.
Tom Pace from Amarillo bought this car brand new from Nance for the 1976 season. Eugene Hair of Wichita Falls, TX was the driver and they piled on the trophies! I'm not too current on what all they did, but I can tell by the writing on the wall they were legendary.

Jiggs Founds gets the car and realized he had a tiger on his hands when he scored the '81,'82 Southwestern Championship and took the track champ title at the Amarillo Speedbowl in '82 and '83. Then he put it in storage waiting for the day to bring it back out. Restoration of course was in order. That took 2 years from what I can tell.
Get this, today February 28, 2009 is THAT DAY!
Yup, the cars first appearance is today at a car show there in town.

Brian,
Were on earth did the Willingham #6 car ever dig up the cool old CAE wheels?. That really makes the old car 'authentic'. I would have guessed all those mag cae wheels were ALL crashed into oblivian at this stage of the game,,,:-)
Sounds like Jiggs Founds has the patience of Job,,restoring that old car to the prestiene condition it is now. From the looks of the aluminum pieces he must have stock in a buffing wheel manufacturing place!
Thanks for the sharp shots of a piece of art!
