And tracks like that wonder why they are losing revenue. Fans go to see racing, not nonsense. Same with the Super Bowl and other sporting events. Just don't realize people want to see what they paid to see. Don't do concerts and pay for the extra entertainment and you might not lose money.
Never have liked pregame and never have liked prerace festivities. Just show me what I am waiting to see.
By the way, for anybody in the OKC area, is there a NASCRAP channel on the radio where I don't have to listen to Darrell Waltrip?

I agree that the pre-race hype can be a bit much, but it is kinda hard to see your point that fans are staying away because of the "nonsense" when Daytona is sold out in the middle of a severe recession. A downturn in attendance at other tracks later in the year might be because the economy as a whole is in the tank or because the quality of the product really is not that exicitng, but the pre-race entertainment has nothing to do with whether or not people choose to attend.
The Super Bowl did kinda lose it magic with the thousands and thousands of empty seats this year because people refused to attend due to the pre-game ceremonies. LOL Just kidding with you, people aren't going to stay away because of the pre-game festivities. Do you honestly think Daytona and the Super Bowl are losing money when both venues are sold out?

I disagree Al. While blocking may not be racing, it certainly isn't illegal by Nascar rules. What Jr. did was just wreck 10 cars. Could have been more. I know he wanted to be in the lucky dog position but that isn't the way to get it.

50ish laps to go and the dude runs ya down to the apron. Its grass or come back up, yellow line besides the point.
where to go?
Plenty of time, give the guy room and let em go. wtf?
get it back next time.
screwed up all of my picks in the pool.
Funny part was that they highlighted the CaleBobbyDonnie crash and I was thinkin OH! 2009 REPLAY!

I'm afraid Nascar didn't win any new fans with this yawner of a 'premier event'. If not for a few miscues it would have been one of the most boring races I've ever seen on the tube plus there was waaaay too much Digger as far as I'm concerned, Haha!

I think the golf channel would've been more entertaining. Start the damn race at noon for christ sake!
What a joke but on a side note it was good to see Vickers get what was coming to him.

My point exactly Al. 50+ laps to go. He blocked you, let him go. Plenty of time to see the block coming for that matter. His daddy would have swerved back the other direction when Vickers started to block and passed him on the outside.
Wertz - What do you mean what Vicker's had coming to him. I am not a Vickers fan but just curious why you say that when it took another 9 cars with them.

no, his daddy woulda just grabbed him outta the car by the parachute hooks and kicked his ass on the spot (or at the car hauler).
Im callin truce cuz I think NASCRAP should have left the lights on regardless of FOX whinning about airtime.

Vickers was only playing by the rules set forth by NAPCAR. Jr has done the same thing a million times before.
Today was just one more reason why I like F1, if it rains, be a man and bolt on the rain tires.

Had it not been for all the pre-race hoopla, we would have easily seen the race in it's entirety.
I agree with a post above also DW needs to hang it up......

Good things from a terrible race:
18 - crash
20 - crash
31 - dinged up and a bad finish. (nothing against Burton, just the CAT sponshoship)
No Kyle Petty
Nobody from Columbia won the race

The most idiotic thing about "Digger" is that FOX actually thinks they invented something new. ESPN had the same thing at Indianapolis Raceway Park in the 1980s, only they called it a "tread cam".
This is their ninth season covering NASCAR, but FOX still thinks the sport was invented last week.

the vote around our house is for rain tires. Fine, slow down, drift and keep going. They all think they're such good drivers, ok, show us the talent. Finish the race. 100+ miles left, plenty of racing.
The answer to that statement and comment is its gonna be a crashfest because they arent as good as they think they are.
And yep 50th is right, the pavement cam was around long before we had to put up with DW and McReynolds in the booth. Ickity, Ickity, Ickity!
I was absolutely howling at DWs pointed comments about the E-Vickers wreck, and how he swung back the other way later.
Gotta get in all the pre-race BS when you know rain is coming, but gotta cut short the race. Ugh.
