Why are the seats that NASCAR ran 30 years ago still being used in $50,000 - $100,000 race cars?
USAC, WoO, IMCA,CRA, and many more still allow these seats to be used. How many more drivers will be hurt or killed before the new style seats are made a RULE?

Maybe because the individual is in control of what he likes/wants and rules that 'mandate' are an open invitation to a lawsuit if the mandated part is shown as cause for an injury or death. Sprint cars are mean and dangerous .... never will be 100% completely safe even in a totalitarian state.

Who's using 30 year old seats? From what I've seen most seats are either the newer 'Halo' style or custom made carbon fiber seats. JMT.
The older I get, the faster I used to be.

I am not sure what or where you go to races but even the lower classes here in se iowa are starting to run the newer stlye seats and more are using the hans devices. I have even seen the what we call hobby stocks using the better improved seat.
I think more racers are using better equipment for safety. There will always be some that do not have the money or don't think about the things that could happen in a accident.
Just try to remeber that any sport can be dangerous at a given time. Lets just try to be as safe as possible.
