2009 SpeedSTR schedule shaping up with a strong Central PA presence.
Myerstown, PA - January 2, 2009 - After an exciting inaugural season in 2008, the SpeedSTR series has expanded to three regions for 2009 along with a strong Central PA presence for the North East series. With today's tough economy, Rich Tobias's timing could not have been better with bringing the racers a vehicle that is economical, easy to maintain, and has an excellent purse structure.
The SpeedSTR's NorthEast series will see some new venues in '09 at the Susquehanna Speedway, Big Diamond Raceway, and Trailways Speedway. The STR's also scheduled to return to Grandview, Clinton County, Woodhull, Selinsgrove, Shenandoah, and Airborne Speedways.
The expansion into Canada and North Carolina regions has opened up a new and exciting format for the crowning of the National SpeedSTR Champion. The format will see 2 to 3 Championship series events scheduled in each of the 3 regions where teams from all 3 regions will compete against one another, their best 3 to 5 finishes (TBA) will be combined with their regional points to crown the overall 2009 Championship series champion.
'09 will also see many "Want To" events. The STR's will be on hand at Big Diamond's USAC Wingless Sprint Car event, Susquehanna's 600 micro Speedweeks event, Trailways Microracing.com's Super Showdown weekend, both Canadian Championship series events will be held during the World of Outlaw's Late Model events, and scheduling is being put in place to have the North Carolina Championship series events to be held during Charlotte Sprint Cup weekends.
Scheduling talks are still progressing with Bridgeport, Kutztown, Oswego, Chemung, Shangri-La, and Penn Can for '09 event dates. With gas prices lower than we have seen them in the past 3 to 4 years, traveling has become much easier for the '09 season Along with the economics this race vehicle offers, the STR's are the place to be in 2009.
Come visit us in Atlantic City at the AARN Motorsports show January 16th and 17th. See the SpeedSTR's at the Speedway Entertainment and Microracing.com's Super Showdown booths.
