Brian Brown – Brian and SuperClean Partner for Two More Years!
(Bill W) December 30, 2008 – Sprint car driver Brian Brown and SuperClean recently reached an agreement on a two-year partnership. Brian and SuperClean paired for a very successful 2008 season that saw the Grain Valley, Missouri driver capture nine wins in 62 events including the inaugural running of the Cowtown Nationals at the Cowtown Speedway in Kennedale, Texas, a track Brian had never seen before. Through the partnership with Brian Brown Racing, SuperClean has expanded the scope of its product to race fans throughout the Midwest and Southern United States.
Inking the contract with SuperClean is obviously huge for Brian. "Just being able to work with the SuperClean and Factory Motor Parts brand and the people like Kraig, Joel and Elliott, is the ultimate privilege for me," he says. "It's definitely one of the highlights of my career to work with such great people. It's an important step for us, and the winning tradition we're building here at Brian Brown Racing."
SuperClean's products have expanded their scope in the last few years, and being involved in racing has helped that expansion. "It's just a great product, and there are some great new products coming out," says Brian. "Just being able to fly the purple colors on the #21 is an awesome feeling, and I hope this is just the beginning, and we'll still be talking about this around 2015."
Despite an environment that is tough to justify sponsorship right now, SuperClean COO Kraig Reash says supporting drivers at the local level is key for his brand. "The economy is tough right now, and you see what's going on with sponsorship in NASCAR and Motorsports in general," he says. "It's tough. We've pared ours back as well, but we believe firmly in supporting the grassroots racing, and Brian is a big part of that. We're excited to sign Brian for an additional two years. He's been a great spokesperson for the brand, not only in the way he conducts himself at the races, but in the way he promotes and believes in the product. We're looking forward to bigger and better things in 2009."
Brian is mulling over the upcoming 2009 racing schedule, not only as a driver, but an owner. "We're looking at schedules right now, and I'm anxious to see what Knoxville is going to do with their purse or format…if they do anything," he says. "There's no other place I'd rather be on Saturday night, but we have to look at all aspects and schedules and see where that leaves us. I don't think the first five (Lucas Oil) ASCS races conflict with anywhere else we'd like to run, so we'll probably start there. Our goal is one way or other, to win 20 races, we haven't done that, and that's our goal for 2009."
Brian will be appearing at the SuperClean National Conference in downtown Minneapolis, Minnesota January 21-23.
Twas An Adventure
The "Twas the Midgets" event on December 19 and 20 at the Kemper Arena in Kansas City, turned into an adventure for Brian. The two-night affair was held indoors on a tight track, but ended up yielding to some great racing in the finale on Saturday night.
"We were actually pretty good on Friday," says Brian of his ride in the Wisconsin-based Bill Eaker #57K. "Thursday we got three laps of practice, and it was tough to tell anything from that. To adjust to totally different characteristics from driving a sprint car was tough, and after three laps, I really felt a little lost. But we did well. In the heat, we were able to go from 8th to 3rd, which probably would have got us in the feature, but I hit the inside berm with two to go, and almost killed the motor."
Brian went to the B late Friday night. "We started seventh and got up to fourth, which would have transferred us, and a guy got into the back of us and got us out of shape," he laments. "We came back and tried to pass him, and got spun out. For the first night, it wasn't bad at all."
Saturday saw a similar draw for the heat. "We started the heat in the same spot on Saturday, and finished fourth again," says Brian. "We started sixth in the B, and made it up to a transfer spot (fourth). With two to go, Dave Darland passed me, and in the next corner I got into him a little bit. He killed his motor and we tipped over. So we were in the wrong place and wrong time."
All in all, Brian enjoyed his weekend in the midget. "I had a ball, it's not often you can race in December," he says. "I'd like to thank Bill Eaker, John and Steve for putting up with me and giving me the opportunity to drive their great car."

Tom Hill from Tampa, FL asks: What are your upcoming racing plans, and are you planning on coming to Florida?
Brian answers: Right now, I'd have to say no. If we go down there, we could use up a lot of our budget, especially if we run into bad luck. We want to make sure we're racing in August, when the big money is on the line. That's our biggest thing, and as an owner, I have to be sure that we are going strong come August. We'll be at the National Sales Conference with SuperClean (in Minneapolis) in January, so that is an opportunity we have to fulfill as well.

Brown's Bits
Brian is aiming for 20 wins in 2009. His previous best was 15 victories in 2006. His versatility saw wins at nine different tracks, in three states and Australia. Eleven wins came in 360 competition, three in the 410's, and his win in Australia was in a 372 and worth $10,000 at the Rolling Thunder Raceway in Bacchus Marsh, Victoria. Stateside wins came at the Knoxville (IA) Raceway, Nebraska Raceway Park, LA (MO) Raceway, Sedalia's (MO) State Fair Speedway, Crawford County (IA) Speedway, Junction Motor Speedway (NE), Lake Ozark (MO) Speedway, 24 Raceway Park (MO) and the Lucas Oil Speedway (MO).
