I seen on a different website that a new race track is being built by Ogilvie MN. Just wondering if anyone here knows much about the future of that track? Seen pics of the constuction that is already going on and it looks pretty nice. Not that far from twin cities so maybe the new UMSS series could do some sprint shows there?

it's a happy new year when a new dirt track is built a hour from my house in the cities. this thing could have a heck of a racing surface.

The track is under construction and will be high banked similar to Cedar Lake but they tell me it's going to be a little bigger. Jay Rittenauer (sp?) who used to promote at Princeton is involved from what I understand and they're working on the buildings, etc. I plan on taking a drive up that way when the weather starts to get better.
I can think of several promoters who would run Sprints weekly in a heartbeat if they knew they were going to draw enough cars. It's kind of a catch 22 around here with the Sprints, car owners can't race without a weekly track and promoters have to rely heavily on the back gate so they have to know the cars are going to show up. I see that Arlington has upped their purse (I believe based on car count) so I think we're starting to see more enthusiasm for Sprint Car racing.
The Late Models and Modifieds are entertaining racing but I never could understand why Sprints lost their popularity up here. Young people are into extreme sports and Sprint Cars are about as extreme as you can get on a dirt track but the younger dirt fans seem more interested in the Stock Car classes. I think that's because there's a couple generations of young people where that's all they've known. The UMSS hopefully will be able to fill that niche around western Wisconsin and the northeast Metro.
