Some of you might remember us, we are a sportsman midget group in Northern California. Last year we got a late start on the season and only had 10 races. As of today, we have a full 16 race schedule; 10 on dirt and 6 on pavement.

Last year we started the year with 2 cars, by year end we had 6. At this time we expect 12 cars to join us for our first race (maybe more). Details/rules can be found at www.capitalcitymidgets.com.

Our cars are allowed to run either the USAC approved Focus engines or the new Revolution Racing Chevy (with CCM approved mapping). In either case the engine must be sealed from the manufacturer. We only allow combo/dirt cars (i.e. no pavement chassis or right hand steer cars allowed). Our rules are in place to control cost and allow for close racing.

Its good to see Stockton's 99 Speedway on the schedule. The track once featured the open wheeled modifieds (second cousins to the San Jose super modifieds) until they were run off in the early 70s. Then it went with the door slammers and I stopped going. Hope the new promoters feature more open wheel racing in the future. Good luck to the new Capital City Midget group.
