The new WOO of lineups will invert the fastest 16 in Time Trials, taking the top 5 in each heat to the main.  The top 2 in each Heat will be in the Dash.  Those 8 drivers will draw pills for the starting positions in the Dash.  The remaining 2 positions will be by the next 2 fastest finishers, in the Time Trials making through their heats.  I'll give those draws and post them in the chat room and race notes.

The lapped cars in the B & A Mains will all get the "Lucky Dog" rule, they will not lose a lap but will be placed at the back of the pack.

Also, there will no longer be a "Prelimary Night" feature race.  All mulitple night races will be scored as a feature race.  No more "Locked-in" events.

So now the fastest 4 qualifiers don't have to pass anybody in the heats in order to make the A. They just have to avoid being passed by 2 guys from behind that would drop them to 6th. I would say this will make the heats somewhat less interesting, but obviously is better on one groove tracks as far as getting the fast guys in the A.

Regarding the "Lucky Dog", IF THERE'S A YELLOW (or red), the lapped cars go to the rear in the the order they were running and become "unlapped", so if any of them should be good enough to then go forward and pass the leader, they could win the race?! Hmm I assume that the guys who are 2 laps down fall in behind all the one lap down guys on the restart?

I think making all the races of multiple day events equal points (no prelims) is great! I figured that was a thing invented by TJ to avoid paying the same purse but never did understand why the points should be different. The guys race just as hard and take the same risks on every race and should get 'feature' points regardless of the purse, IMO.

Overall, I like the changes. Smile

With almost 30 cars on the tour right now this heat race change will help those that go out near the end when the times are obviously slower. It just might make the heats MORE interesting right there. If you have noticed in Florida when you see fast cars like Steve and TK and Freddie time near the 40 mark you know these guys will pass cars in the heats, especially the slower ones that got the early pills.

If what you say about the Preliminary Night Winners is true then that is the best news I've ever heard from this new regime. I have whined about this for years and now the next best thing to do would be to Grandfather in all those past winners who were not given the FULL credit they deserve, got my fingers crossed, again. Take It Easy.....

Change is good sometimes. May need to make adjustments.

Update on the lapped cars:

They are placed at the back of the field, but they are still a lap down.  Cars that are more than one lap down will get a lap back.

No more prelim features and locked in positions sounds great.

Thanks for clearing up the lapped car rule ozko. That is complete bullshit for everyone to get their lap back under caution.

Went through the 2007 rulebook on the WoO website (theworldofoutlaws.com) this morning and there was still the listing of preliminary features and the points given during them. I'm thinking this weekend is one of those special weeks where all 3 races are A Mains. Who knows though... guess we'll find out at the 2-day Tulare show.
