In my opinion, this kid is not getting enough credit for his feat Saturday night. He kicked everybody's butt!! And for a guy that I've heard runs all out on the cushion most of the time, he sure showed some real patience never wavering from the low line. He and his team obviously had a game plan, stuck to it and it paid off big time! It was fun to watch.

Smile The biggest and baddest race ever at "The Best Little Dirt Track In America" and Brandon Thompson won!!!! The very BEST SPrint car drivers in the nation were there, COry Kruseman (NON WING WORLD CHAMPION, exTony STEWATS driver, a one time Nascar and Indy car driver was driving a brand new the absouluty best thing the CROSSNO has for power/car which is quite good these days, it won the Ovals Nationals on Friday and might have won on Saturday if not for a bad slide job, and Jesse Hockett whose has won everything the last 4 nights (Ovals and Manzy) until he blew up in the 410 was in a brand new car that had everything the best of the best, and Jonathan Henry has won almost every big race this year at Ventura, what more can you say. Plus throw in Faria, Rutherford and lots of other big stars with great cars.

And lets be honest, Brandons car they said is worth only $10k total. I'm sure he massages it every night, but everyone knows money buys speed. After the race Brandon told me he watches Jesse on the internet and I am sure COry was/is one of his racing heros.

Some fans told me they were not happy or excited with racing surface. Me I was happy with it. It seperated the men from the boys. It was cool to see Jesse, Cory, Joanthan bang the wall off the cushion. It also allowed a driver like Brandon who I am guessing has watched countless races on the tape to outthink his heroes and win probably one of the biggest races ever at Ventura. I don't know what's in store for Brandon, but I am guessing this will go down as one of his greatest nights ever! You just don't get many opportunites to beat Jesse, Cory, and even Jonathan these days unexpectedly. I hope some car owner is smart enough to put Brando in a good 410, but unfortunately in the real world, car owners even in sprint cars are looking for how much money you can bring. But for this night, Brandon was the best of the best. Congratulations Brandon!!!! And enjoy the spoils of this victory. I'm guessing the $10,000 race car will now be a $15,000 race car and we should expect you to win more often now LOL wink

(Wouldn't it be cool if Crossno let him drive the 83 at he last race at Perris!)

Nice post. Very well said. The track had two grooves...can't ask much more than that. Yeap a little dust and a bunch of clods tossed into the stands, mix in some hot shoes & it makes for a exciting evening. Bang that wall! Brandon is being watched by several big wigs, bank on it.

I agree that Brandon did an awesome job in reading the track conditions and sticking to the game plan. It was a fantastic and well deserved win. However, if it wasn't for the awesome drives that Jonathon Henry and Jesse Hockett gave us, that race would have been a one groove stinker. Cory, trying as hard as he could, barely was hanging with Brandon crawling around the bottom. It was a spectacle to see the cars which crossed the line 2-4 do it running a groove that didn't exist for the last 1/2 of the race. I kind of wish Naylor didn't remove the cushion and push it down the track, when he did his massaging, I think this was the first time he worked the track when it ultimately did more harm than good as it probably would have taken rubber and gotten faster as the night went on giving how black it was before he worked it...but on the other hand I'm so happy for Brandon's big win, that maybe that was a good thing...

Indeed, one helluva job by Mr. Thomson! He held off three of the fastest guys in sprint car racing today, and not in exactly the best of equipment, at least as compared to the other 3. To me that shows a true racer, being able to win in a car that isn't necessarily the best there is. Good Job Brandon, and good luck next season!

The film reminds me of what a good race this was.

I was standing there watching and didn't see the half of it. At Ventura your eyeballs have to move two different directions at the same time. Even so, it’s easy to miss a lot of the action.

I didn't realize how many times the front runners tried different racing lines but couldn't make the line work with their setups. It gets pretty desperate when drivers start taking a look at the middle of the turns.

I can guarantee there was no race track left when the feature started. Basically, it was an ice skating rink. The leaders had the throttle mashed down as close to the turn 4 wall as someone can get and live to tell about it.

Watching Johnathon Henry and Jesse Hockett go at each other was amazing. Now I understand what the big deal is about Jesse Hockett.

Concentration, confidence and precise driving produces the win. Way to go, Brandon.

How ironic. One great Sprint Car driver announces his retirement and another young driver's star is on the rise following a great win at Ventura.. Thanks for the memories Tony and we look forward to Brandon's ascent to the Tony Jones' level of professionalism. Congratulations Brandon!
