This concludes the racing at Enid this year and so now I want to chime in on a few things......

I believe it is just completely wrong to give one driver a caution lap(to change a flat tire) and not give the same to another driver. I seen this happen on many occasions today....

I hope I'm correct on the modified A feature results, forgive me if I'm not, for they were falling like mosquitos, with flat tires....

I'm a huge dirt track fan and I truly like Enid Speedway Park but all tracks have to stop showing favoritism to any drivers and let all of them race under the same set of rules...

It cannot be good when we have local drivers going out of town to race instead of racing here at their own track.

I'm sure the season was very long and wearsome on the staff but I think that everyone could see, through out the whole season, where improvements could and should be made. From the promoter, the staff, the officials, the "so called "security, and the drivers. You have all winter to gear up and get ready for the 2009 season and hopefully it will be more successful than any other.

I am looking forward to the NCRA sportmod series next year, I believe it will be one of the best series ever!!!!!

GOODLUCK and BEST WISHES to EVERYONE!!!!!!

I was dissapointed in the Sport mod feature on Sun.The 14 car couldn't get around the 19 car so he dove down on the 19 going into turn 3 slamming it in the right front wheel and bumper. When Whitley got out front it looked like the 14 was trying to block the19.On the yellow restart the 19 got his bumper under the 14 but the 14 came down and was spunout. They were both black flagged. The 19 said that 14 didn't want to give any when he hit him going in turn 3 so he wouldn't either. I've been to the races in Enid for many years and have seen Whitley hit and shove his way to the front. He hasn't changed any, You get what you give. I was saddened by the comments of the other racers Who were running down Elliot.#19. It seens like when you are good people bad mouth you. I wonder how many wins and championships the other drivers have. Enid seems to cater to the local racers, it has for years .nothing will change.

Well I had a very good view of this whole race and I thought that it was quite clear that the #19(Elliott) drove through and spun the #14(whitley). I'm not bad talking anyone here, for I have watched both of these drivers for some time now. I don't have favoritism for either one of them! So, I will say this.... if the #19(Elliott) would have checked up then neither driver would have been black flagged. It is what it is and that can't be changed now. I'm sure both of these drivers are wishing that none of this would have ever happened..... As for whitley, you speak of his racing with a bad tone. I have been attending the track since 1977 and I believe that he was one of the most successful and clean driving factory stock drivers of all time(JMO)

I'm not wanting to stage no chat war, I simply wanted to post the results of the show!!!

I've only been to Enid a few times year, and honestly I can see why the car counts are down. The track is sooo hard on tires for the long Mod A features, the restarts suck, why do they have single file restarts? The cars are all running each other over before they come out of turn 4.Do they not own a restart cone anymore? Can they not do something about the abrasiveness of the track, like turning it over,or bringing in different dirt. And last but not least, the dirty driving is outrageous,I saw so many drivers in all divisions blocking, spinning cars out,and flat out driving guys into the walls.People gripe about the driving at Creek County and other small tracks where rubbing is expected, but they also use the black flag for being overly aggressive.Enid acts like they are scared of running people off,so they look the other way on alot of things other tracks don't tolerate.

I totally agree with you. I have been a supporting fan at Enid Motor Speedway, but the rough driving needs to come to an end. I guess you have to go out of Enid to find good clean side by side racing, and thats sad cause it used to be the best track in the state.  The situation between Elliot(19) and Whitley(14W) was a bad deal all the way around.  Im not dogging on either driver, but 2 experienced drivers like that should be able to race clean.  Although I do believe what goes around comes around.  And what was the deal between Hughes(60) and Mcclaskey(09) in the mods after the A main was over??  Looked like Hughes drove straight over him for no reason. It was good racing between the 2 of them and then once they were both at the back (due to flat tires), Hughes head went straight up his @$$.  I guess when your one of the 7 mods that show up every week you can make your own rules.  Anyways.....hopefully things with get resolved in the off season and Enid will get their staff straightened out.  Apparently Mr. Colville doesn't know how to manage things well, and you would think he could handle it after being a driver and fan favorite for so many years.

I did not see what happened on the front straight, but there was a lot of banging down the back straight.I have raced with whitley for over 20 years and never had a problem with his driving.would run side by side with him anyday.I havn't raced with elliot but he's allways seamed pretty clean.sometimes racers get cought up in the moment and lose there heads.especially when you run 1 or 2 laps and have a restart over and over.as far as for the track,3 weeks ago at 81 speedway was the same way,and clinton in 2 weeks will be the same also.it's just part of sunday races in oklahoma, especially with the wind blowing.just my 2cents worth.Gary

I would have to agree about the 14W(Whitley). I hate having to race around him because he tries to block you/ run you into the wall when you get beside him. He has done it countless times to me this year. I am getting a bit sick of it myself. He has cut down a couple of my tires while I was passing him. On the other hand, I love racing Elliot(19). He has not once tried to force me into the wall, and has given me room when we run side by side. I was running 7th on the restart and didn't get to see what happened, but from a few people I talked to and my own experiences with both this season, I would side with Elliot. I have had to take extreme measures not to get into wrecks with 14W and believe that Elliot probably had the line on 14W and he probably tried to cut him off and Elliot held his ground.

As far as the track, some calls are not exactly right and I was one of the people that blew a tire and didn't get a lap to change it and I am a "local". Oh well. I have been to a couple tracks in OK and TX and wouldn't trade any of them for Enid.

Sunday afternoon races = worn out tires. It just happens. I don't wear out tires on the normal evenings at Enid.

I would love to help you out but I only know a few of them. The R2 car that won the Factory's is Brad Costelo; the SSM #80 is Frank Graven, #42D is Todd Decker, #42 is Ross McCartney. Wish I could help more.

I have raced with the 19 and the 14w numurous times with no problems. Would race side by side with either one of them anytime. For the 85 to write what he did just makes me laugh. I was passing the 85 for 5th or 6th place in an a-feature about a month ago when he decided to rip my drivers door off with his right rear. This started half way down the back straight, before we got 3/4 of the way down I was half way up on the wall. Maybe he did not now i was there, yet my header was in his ear hole. Just humurous to me for him to post what he did. No body is perfect and we are all just human. I just don't see the point in talking about how someone drives unless you have never made that mistake yourself!

I can say that I have not ever intentionally ran over anybody and if your going to say that kind of crap why don't you have the guts to put your car number and name on your post. I have ended up in the tires at Enid myself because I wasn't going to take out the person beside me. I F*&ing hate drivers that do crap like that so grow a set of balls next time you want to criticize me. I agree that accidents happen, but when a certain few drivers are ALWAYS involved/cause them you should probably steer clear of them.

Just one more time to clear the air.....

Both Whitley and Elliott are very good drivers, like I said, in a earlier post, I'm sure that both of them regret that incident. For anyone to say that either one of these drivers don't race clean or that they are persistantly driving rough is completely absurd. I would say to whom ever makes that statement, that they haven't been around racing very long or they don't know much about racing. I have watched both of these guys race cars for a long time and they both do a very good job at racing cars. I keep my opinion as honest and fair as possible and that is how I see it!!!!

If Elliott would have lifted, he wouldnt have turned Whitley around at the flag stand. Does this make him wrong, NO, he was just not going to give an inch.... Chalk it up to HARD RACING!!!!!!

I agree it was hard racing on both drivers.Accidents do happen. If your not RACING HARD then your just riding around getting in the way. But When Whitley tried to ram the 19 head on into the oncoming racers , that was wrong. The black flag was needed for both drivers. I thought the drivers in the pits were very rude in their comments. I know they have never caused a wreck or spun out anyone. This was the first time I've been to the track in 5yrs. The late 80s and 90s I was there weekly and enjoyed it .The track and most of the drivers have changed. I saw some good drivers(cars) and enjoyed watching them. We were going to get a Sport Mod and race Enid , but not now. Congrats to the #85 on your championship.

How about we close all tracks down for about 2 years then open them back up? I bet there would be alot less track bashing, or why dont you go off and run the perfect track youeself since you have the magic wand and know how to do it.

The hole point of my story was not intended to attack 85. It is simply you race other guys how they race you. I remember years ago watching whitley, gene jackson and tim garnder race 3 wide all year long in just about every a-feature and never touch. I am not trying to critisize anyone's driving ability or freedom of speech. I have watched Elliot race hard and clean for just about as many years as whitley. And as for the 85 i am not trying to say u are a rough driver. Just a racing lessoned learned for me when passing you, if it happened 10 more times maybe you don't push me in the wall. In no way was i trying to say it was intentional I know it is just racing. I just don't agree with talking about how some one drives when u have made the same mistake. Racing mistake not intentional.

I drove to Enid from Tulsa to watch what I was hoping was going to be some good racing. What I saw instead was a bunch of wrecked cars,a bunch of flat tires, and what seemed like at least 10 yellow flags in every feature. When a feature starts with 20 cars and only 6-8 finish, something needs to be changed.By the way,I have made the trip to Enid about 5 times this year hoping it was going to be better than the last time.I don't think I'm going to waste my time next year unless I read about things getting better. And we don't need to close all the tracks down for 2 years,I've been to CCS,WSS,Caney,OKC,OMS,BMS,and South Coffeyville this year, and haven't seen as much carnage in one night of racing at any of these tracks as I saw at Enid for one show.JMO!!!!

wow - went from hearing very little about enid all year - to hearing very much.

dirttrack234 - man you cant make everyone happy. i dont think they are meaning so much to do the track any harm or trackbash - just stating their thoughts. and i think just about any track in this state or surrounding ones has discontented or unhappy drivers and/or fans. you'll just never be able to make EVERYONE happy.

i also dont think folks should count out the track because of a few bad shows. i see they will host several ncra events next year - both reg mods and sport mods - i bet those will be good shows. and the street stock nationals there is always highly attended. never been to that myself - but it looks like it is a really cool show. from what i heard the 10k to win show in august wasnt all that great - but i bet that the things that they can control they will try to address next year. jmho.

jaydad - i like what you had to say. rightful criticism - but with a positive outlook. very reasonable. good stuff.

i'm with you nonwingbill - lookin at all these numbers almost looks like a powerball ticket lol.
