Tuesdays with TMAC – Busy Week Ahead!

(Bill Wright) February 6, 2007 – Six races in six nights would drive many people loony, but it's just what the doctor ordered for TMAC Motorsports and Terry McCarl! The fun begins tonight at Volusia Speedway Park (Barberville, FL) as the All Star Circuit of Champions take to the track for three nights of action that will conclude on Thursday. The World of Outlaws will follow suit on Friday, Saturday and Sunday as the lid lifts on what might be the most competitive season in the history of the traveling band!

The storms last week did not affect the speedway and racing will go on as scheduled. Though the first three nights of action will carry the All Star banner, expect the best in the WoO business to get some laps before embarking on the 2007 campaign as well. The All Stars will be led into battle by defending champion Greg Wilson. He will be joined by Dale Blaney, young Brandon Martin, veteran Danny Smith, Paul May and Brian Ellenberger to name a few. WoO competitors joining Terry who have already competed in Florida include Danny Lasoski, Craig Dollansky, Tim Shaffer, Randy Hannagan, Paul McMahan, Jason Sides, Chad Kemenah, Jason Solwold and several others.

McCarl looks forward to 2007 after a ninth place finish in last season's WoO standings, despite the loss of thirteen races to injury. The team (led by Crew Chief Steve Fitzpatrick) did not miss a start with the help of Tim Shaffer, Dean Jacobs and Sammy Swindell, and finished sixth in the owner's standings. TMAC Motorsports looks to move up the standings, with a goal of winning the championship!

Test and Tune

Last week the team had a successful test and tune for Volusia by running at East Bay Raceway Park near Tampa, FL. After bringing the #24 from twenty-second to tenth on the opening night of action last Tuesday, rainy, wet, conditions made it a huge advantage to start up front on Thursday and Saturday. Despite the conditions, TMAC was able to come home seventh from the fifth row in the finale against stiff competition. Fifty-two of the nation's best descended on East Bay, so a pair of top tens and a fifteenth place run lent some momentum heading into tonight's action.

McCarl said, "We use races like this to get me back in mental and physical shape, and the team back in mental and physical shape, and kinda get ready for the Outlaw shows to start. That's our priority right now. We're ready!"

Did you know?

Terry's win on January 26 at East Bay was his 222nd career sprint car victory. His first came on July 5, 1986 at Knoxville.

This is the reason you are so well-loved on here "28".  Why don't you put your investigative hat on and find out the reason he passed the scales.  When you do, you can come on here and explain to those that don't already know the reason.  Believe me when I tell you that you'll look even more foolish than you already do.  You don't like Terry, that's obvious, and we all COMPREHEND that fact.  Until you have the nerve to step up to the plate and quit hiding behind your Brian Paulus screen name no one cares.  Bill, myself and a host of others stand behind our comments with our actual names and we can be contacted.  How about you?  We will all be waiting on your investigative report!

Maybe someone else could shed some light on the situation as I was not there and only heard second hand as to what happened.  According to what I was told was that the top 4 were to go to the scales.  As TMAC finished 5th he went to his trailer, and the officials DQed him as they wanted the top 5 to go to the scales.  Very unfortunate situation.

Don't fear though as he won't miss the scales this week, as I pick at least 2 wins out of the next 6 nights.  Go get 'em Terry!!!

Once again I am so sorry to disappoint you "JanetH" Is that exactly what it states on your drivers license? Take a look around and you will notice more than 90% on HH use a sign on name. I wouldn't consider myself a true Brian Paulus fan , but I do like to see when an under dog does well against the other WoO tour regulars. If you must know my sign on name is a memorial to a family member who passed away that wasn't even involved in racing.

Again I didn't say anything hurtful. Just made a comment that a couple of you have no sense of humor for. You are obviously sensitive McCarl fans and for some reason are offended personally. One of my favorites has always been Sammy. NO ONE gets more negative responses than Mr. Swindell. It doesn't bother me what is posted, and I either comment, ignore it, or even laugh if it's funny. I also don't post anything to be loved or hated, and I sure don't come on here acting like I know everything as many do. Being related to a family in racing doesn't mean everything you think is true on the sport. Some of you take this way too serious. This site is solely intended for Sprint car business, information, memories, and some humor. Try an allow yourself to laugh once in awhile, or maybe have your Dr. adjust your prescription. Smile

I would almost guarantee that the majority of the posters know that JanetH is my sign on name because my full name of Janet Holbrook doesn't fit.  I am not a sensitive McCarl fan, just pointing out that EACH and EVERY time something is posted about McCarl you post something negative.  I can do the research if you want, but I'll go by my memory (which is pretty darn good).  You have made it pretty clear that you think he's fair to mediocre as a sprint car driver, but to post something negative every time his name is mentioned on this board sounds more like a personal grudge.  It's a free country, but, as I posted above, why not try to find out the REAL reason regarding the scales.  I'm still waiting....

Show me something negative I have ever posted about McCarl. Bet you cant ! I hear Ginkgo Biloba works good as you seem to remember some bits and pieces but they are out of context. I have never used the word mediocre in my life, nor would I say that about someone with hundreds of Main even wins. What I said was he was average of the WoO mean 15 and that was back in 2005 pre NST. Go back and check the 05 point standings. There are many quality drivers in front and behind him on the list. Mathematically you have to agree 9th place is average out of 15. The main discussion was he would join the tour and dominate. I disagreed as I probably would with almost anyone joining the tour. Its very rare to go out and do all that well even if you have some previous tour experience.

Missing 13 races might have hurt his chances a bit finishing in the top 5...and look no further than the second post on this thread for the negative aspect. I really don't want to continue this discussion with you, you have every right to post your opinion, or humor, as you put it. I also have every right to post my opinions. Let's just agree to disagree.
