John Schulz Wins First Ideal Ready Mix Sprint Invaders Title!

(Bill W) John Schulz claimed the 2008 Ideal Ready Mix Sprint Invaders title by the slimmest of margins! In the end, the West Burlington, Iowa driver edged 2004 champion Bobby Mincer by just four markers. Schulz's title was highlighted by consistency, and four wins.

Bart Schneiderman and the Deuce Motorsports team earned the Car Owner title. Not only could they claim a champion, but also the third place driver in the standings, Josh Schneiderman. Josh won his first two career Sprint Invaders feature wins at the West Liberty Raceway in July, and by capturing the "Herb Barlow Memorial" at the Morgan County Speedway in Jacksonville, Illinois on Friday, October 3.

Mincer fought from behind on many nights, and collected three hard-charger awards, top in the series. He picked up a pair of victories…one at the Cedar County Speedway in Tipton, Iowa in July, and the other in August at the 34 Raceway in West Burlington. Matt Rogerson won the season opener at 34 Raceway, and came home fourth in the standings. Ryan Jamison rounded out the top five in the point race.

Korey Weyant, Matt Harms, Jimmy Davies, Jordan Goldesberry and Dan Avery rounded out the top ten in the standings. Jerrod Hull added a victory in Jacksonville in May to increase his all-time best win total with the series (12). Mike Houseman Jr. was able to grab his first career feature win in a sprint car in the second of two features on the first "Twin Features" night ever in August at 34 Raceway. Goldesberry also grabbed his first career sprint car win at the "Tom Knowles Memorial" at the Spoon River Speedway near Canton, Illinois in late September. Brian Brown rounded out the season's list of winners by capturing the finale in October at 34 Raceway.

In all, eight different drivers won the thirteen features contested. The rookie class was strong again this year. Andy Huston edged 15 year old Austin McCarl by just 47 markers. Mark Shirshekan also provided some thrills, finishing fourth in the season finale at 34. Ben Wagoner also impressed after beginning halfway through the season, grabbing a third at Spoon River.

The Ideal Ready Mix banquet will be held on November 8! Check the website for more details!
